B’ow had kinda hoped for more after impression. Not in regards to Hailreth, the Neon Purple was perfect. What he had hoped for was a little less of the quasi disappointed conversations from his parents. He sat at a table with R’bin and Lonwa and it looked like possibly the most uncomfortable group of people. They all sat up perfectly straight and B’ow’s dark eyes watched his parents as they examined him. He hated this part. He didn’t dislike his parents, not as people. But they, as many parents did, could be a bit over bearing. He had to be glad that they were not only his parents in name but really he would like it better if these conversation didn’t make him want to hide more than any bully he had met.
Currently they were disapproving his future plans.
“B’ow, would you not like to remain here instead?” His mother, long dark hair swished slightly as she tilted her head. There was a bit of gray in it but she was aging gracefully. Her voice though was tight, and restrained. It generally was.
“I will have different things to learn there. I have my own plans for education and feel they will best be served at Waterfall Valley Weyr. My Dragonhealing will continue there and there will be no complications about visiting here. I have thought it out.” B’ow ended a lot of conversations with his parents using that phrase. It was rather amazing how many. At least ever since he disappointed them so severely.
A strained silence stretched over the table and the three humans did not move. Outside, three dragons sat together. The smallest, a White, was the most still. Ildath was impressively charismatic when she wanted to be, but enjoyed peace and quiet. Kelath, the Blue moved only slightly, swishing his tail next to Ildath. Opposed to the two adult dragons Hailreth was not watching the entrance to the dining area. He was watching the Lifewings and Dragons fly. His bright purple tail shifted back and forth naturally as he observed.
Oh he’s going to make Mine worry.
That’s hardly a new event Kelath.
I know, but I do like it better when she has a little peace. The Blue head shifted to the Purple, who wasn’t participating in the running conversation the pair shared. You aren’t worried, are you?
No. We have it planned, it will be okay. Hailreth was perfectly certain, and the White and Blue dragons relaxed slightly, becoming less tense. The Purple was far more reassuring then B’ow was. At least from an emotional argument standpoint.
The riders were largely unaware of the conversations of dragons, but the emotions came through none the less.
“I see.” R’bin didn’t seem any less reassured or even happy about it. “And how have you been progressing with your Healing courses?” B’ow was pretty sure that his father knew how things were going but that was not the point.
“I am doing well. Weyrling lessons are not interfering very much and my schedule is set to open up more so I can more easily handle additional work.”
A brief nod and then more silence. It stretched and then R’bin rose. “I have to go, but it sounds acceptable. It has been good talking to you again B’ow.”
“Good day Father.” B’ow watched him go and his mother stood up as well.
“We will see you again in a fortnight. Think some more about it, if you would.”
“I will mother.” She smiled, a very little and departed. Leaving B’ow at the table. Not for long though. The Blue and White bid the Purple good day, but Hailreth moved toward the jungle. He waited for a bit. Eventually he spotted B’ow walking with a purpose toward him and the neon Purple watched as he walked right past him and climbed up into a tree.
Relax.
“Shard it, I plan to.” He wasn’t a big believer in breaks. This was a time he desperately needed a break.
