Retny had not been willing to risk Yinaire for even a second with the thought of Between, and thus, this trip had taken much longer than it would have normally. She had been gone for nearly two months to visit her family. Of course, she had not gone alone. She had to admit that she really missed her mate. She had started to the first day. The ache had only grown worse as time went on and aside from when she was with Yinaire, she had become grouchy and nearly unapproachable. She wasn't at all pleased with the sense of humors or the lack of a desire for fun those around her had seem to have. She wished she could have taken R'le with her. But it was now afternoon as the rainbow spread her wings in sight of their home. They were nearly there.

Quiorith! We have returned! the rainbow called to her beloved mate! bugling with excitement even as they spiraled downward and Retny clasped the baby! tied tightly and securely to herself and Ori as they lNded as gently as possible. It was ad'zeal who dismounted first, walking over and reaching out to take the child while Retny dismounted, only handing her back when the Junior Weyrwoman was ready. The child was well bundled up and seemed to be in perfect health. Though there had been a bit of a scare that kept them longer when the child had a fever.she alway wrote R'le and dan lent her Andy to send the messages. She looked around, waiting for R'le, not at all interested in anyone but her daughter's father, her mate.

Dan stood quietly and resolutely, leaning back coolly against the dark blue hide of his dragon who seemed to be calm as well. It seemed they may have changed over the course of the journey...

Quiorith flipped his tail back and forth. R’le kept getting stuck with work and that left him on the ground. He did not like this. He was a Cloud after all. He had also been missing Orikeath, since while there riders had been busy, they could go on flights together. He hadn’t really been going on as many flights by himself. Felt kinda lonely. So the stormy day Cloud was looking a little bit glum today. However, when the bright words reached him, his head snapped up and his eyes started to swirl a more pleased hue.

R’le’s head snapped up from the paperwork that he wasn’t really doing anyway. Like a practiced slacker, he put everything down on his desk and then opened the door of his office quietly. He slipped out, tiptoeing past T’kar’s office and then around the corner. Once he was around the corner, he just booked it. He was determined to get there before Quiorith did.

However Quiorith had bolted the moment he relayed the information to his rider. There really wasn’t much time at all before he had arrived to see the Rainbow Queen. [smear:B0C4DE]Orikeath! I’m glad you are back. I missed you.[/smear:87CEEB] The last couple of words were a bit more wispy than usual, like he was a bit shy about them. But he was very pleased to see the Rainbow again, that was clear.

R’le ran out a minute later, glancing at Quiorith for a moment before turning his attention elsewhere. Namely, Retny and his daughter. He made a beeline for the pair, and enveloped Retny in a careful hug, so he didn’t squish Yinaire, and gave her a kiss. First things were first. When he pulled away he kept close to get a good long look at them both.

“Man I’ve missed you Retny.” He seemed quite content, and looked down at Yinaire. His daughter. Still gave him an excited, sort of nervous feeling. This was his little girl. It was never more clear than when he looked at her that he was excited to be a father. “Missed you too Yinaire.” He instinctively reached out, before stopping and then grinning sheepishly at Retny. The ‘can I hold her pretty please’ face was just plastered on his face.

Retny grinned as she saw the cloud, Ori already moving towards him, reaching out to nuzzle along his neck, crooning sweetly to him. i missed you too! my Quiorith. it was unlike Ori to say such things lest she truly meant it and felt it quite deeply. Retny looked at the cloud, feeling a slight disappointment as R'le wasn't with him. But! Oh! R'le. She could feel her grin growing as she watched him run towards her, wishing she could run, but holding the yawning Yinaire in her arms, she could only wait for him to each her.

She gave a happy sigh of relief as his arms finally, after so long closed around her. He was careful of Yinaire, but the child fussed anyways because it was a surprise and there was another person. He hadn't said anything to her and he was taking mom's attention. Retny grinned, kissing him happily. "We missed you too," she said softly to him.

Yinaire gurgled at him, looking at him with big brown eyes. Retny grinned. She knew he was happy robe a father. And she was so glad to be a mother. And no less to have this child with her beloved R'le. Yinaire was theirs. She grinned at him. "Of course, she's your daughter too!" Her words were full of amusement, love, and surprise as she answered, gently handing the child to her father and the baby fussed in the exchange, but she immediately seemed to become very intently interested in R'le as he took hold of her and struggled to pull a little hand out, finally managing it past the wrapping and reaching to try to grab at his face as if he was fascinating.

For a moment Quiorith didn’t speak, just nuzzled Orikeath back. The Rainbow Queen had certainly brightened up his day. His eyes were now a pleasant shade of blue-green whirling nicely. The Cloud’s feelings were clear to R’le, who was feeling similarly. [smear:B0C4DE]Would you, would you like to go flying now?[/smear:87CEEB] Typical Quiorith. But he had missed flying with her.

R’le looked delighted as Yinaire was moved into his arms. His little girl was interested in his face and he moved his face in enough that his nose got grabbed. He chuckled softly, letting the little girl investigate for a moment. However when her fingers started to wander to his dangling hair he lifted his head back up. He needed a haircut again. That tended to happen.

“How was it? I hope you had a good flight back.” His attention was mostly on Retny now, but his hand went to Yinaire’s hands to give her something to play with. It seemed far too long since he had seen them so he didn’t want to go anywhere else anytime soon.

Orikaeth nuzzled her mate, showing him a lot of affection she didn't show other dragons in the least. She gave him a little croon. Once I get my saddle and these bags off, I would be very pleased to, she crooned to him, nuzzling him again. It will be fubn to fly together... have you gotten to stretch you wings much...?[/b she asked him her tone gentle as she gently traced his neck down to his shoulder and back up with her snout. She crooned again. She was very happy. HEr rider was very happy. The little one was very happy. This was all good.

Retny watched R'le and Yinaire with a gentle, loving expression. The little gir lwas fascinated wit him, pulling his nose and trying to get his hair. But when eh pulled his face away, she tried to grab him by the lip, making little fussing noises and grabbing at his face. Retny chuckled. The little girl was adventurous. She could be fussy sometimes, but she rarely threw a fit or got truly worked up... she was generally happy. Retny absolutely adored her baby girl.

She looked at R'le with a smile as he spke to her again. "It was alright... it wsan't as fun as being here with you, though... REally, everyone insisted that I should still be resting." She shook her head somewhat ruefully. "The trip back was fine... but it took a really long time and a few lay overs. I just didn't feel safe taking Yinaire Between yet..." she gave a small smile and reached out a hand to gently stroke her baby's head... who was now occupying herself with R'le's fingers, pulling on them and shaking them up and down... before pulling one into her mouth and gumming it. She smiled. "I missed you very much. I'm happy to be home."

Quiorith let a pleasant croon start up as the Rainbow nuzzled him. Oh yes, Orikaeth’s presence was one he had missed. [smear:B0C4DE]Not nearly so much as I would like. Mine is far too busy.[/smear:87CEEB] His lackluster mood lasted almost no time at all. [smear:B0C4DE]But that won’t be such a problem now, now that you are here.[/smear:87CEEB]

“Well, I bet you had an opinion on that.” R’le let a mischievous smile play on his face. Retny might have taken a trip away from the Weyr, but that didn’t mean she was looking to get ‘healer’ed by everyone. Well, both of my girls are back nice and safe, so I will call that a good trip back.” He watched Yinaire grip his fingers and put them in her mouth. He laughed softly, thinking to himself that he was going to be much busier now that they were both back. Mostly because right now he felt like spoiling them both.

“I feel the same way.” He really wanted to be allowed some time with his family, hopefully the threat of work would remain at bay for a while.

The rainbow crooned. {it will be nice to go flying with you again each day.} she nuzzled his neck again. {I'm sorry you have been stuck on the ground so much...}

"I did indeed," she said with a grin, wrapping an arm around him, her other hand gently touching Yinaire's head. The baby looked up at her father with big wide eyes, mouthing on her fathers fingers, though she gave a big smile and squeal of delight after a moment as a firelizard flew over head, reaching up and making grab hands at it. Retny chuckled. "When you're old enough, well get you one, Yinaire." Retny smiled.

"Yes... Both of your ladies are back and with no intention of leavin you again for a very Lon time" she smiled and rested her head against his shoulder. "Can we make someone else do your work for a day or two so Yinaire and I can spend time with you..." She wanted to have Her family together for awhile. Just her family.
