- After the defeat of Thread plague came, decimating the population of the Southern Continent. Those who survived the illness fled North, leaving the Southern Continent quarantined and abandoned. Fifty turns later a wing of dragonriders went to explore the abandoned land and when they failed to get sick the plague was tentatively declared eradicated. Oblivion Weyr was subsequently established in the burned out shell of what used to be Southern Weyr, an experimental outpost for rediscovering the Southern Continent as well as testing its habitability.
Oblivion Weyr has done well for a turn and a half now, even in it's isolation, and has became a sanctuary of sorts for those avoiding the rest of Pern. However, recently the Northern Weyrs have decided to send a new wing of riders to ensure that Oblivion has not strayed from its objective - including a new senior weyrwoman, promising fundamental changes to the weyr that no one bargained for.
