Saith was patient. He had chosen this tunnel a sevenday ago as ideal and no world crisis was going to stop his hunt. Soon, hopefully very soon, some unsuspecting, lost newcomer would wonder by. Then he would strike. The look of terror on their face satisfying enough to justify waiting in this corner the last four hours. He had only to keep waiting...
Maelinne, who had been unwillingly brought along on this journey, as Saith needed someone to witness his triumph, had a dim basket of glows and her own project. She had used the Weyr's shift of attention to borrow, to put it nicely, some old, very rare and delicate books that the librarians had not thought it wise to lend her. Foolish librarians. She would finish her project of retracing the family lines of important Ice Stone Weyr persons from the past. Maybe they could be used to decipher some of the old journal entries that kept popping up now and again. The shadowy past was still a mystery to crack and so it occupied the short girl while her Grey dragon kept his thoughts filled with new and emerging plots.
