[/b] roleplay forum set 778 years after the last bombs were detonated on the Red Star and AIVAS shut down.

For 500 years Pern was believed to be Thread free. There were signs that thread was to return, but many ignored them until Threadfall decimated the face of Pern. What few Dragons were left after 500 years of a dwindling population pulled together to protect Pern as age-old instinct demanded. They didn't know how to fight Thread, but still they fought!

As Threadfall continued to fall erratically, and the Dragon numbers began to fall the leaders of Pern decided it best to form a safe haven from which to bolster their numbers! Starlight Weyr was formed, a warm, ocean-surrounded Weyr just off the coast of the southern continent. With the new Weyr helping to repopulate the North, safe from the ravages of Thread on their island home, the North slowly began to recover. Decades later Pern celebrated the last Threadfall of the pass, and though many were worried if Thread would return in another 200 years, plans were made to build a hold to accompany the weyr in the South. Eventually the huge coastal Hold was finished and people flocked to it from the North.

Now, with Thread due to return once again, and the Red Star framed almost perfectly between the Star Stones, Pern once again prepares to face their age-old menace. This time the Dragonriders are prepared, and they wait with fire in their blood and steel in their hearts.
