Name: Tellard Bettany
Pronunciation: TELL-ahrd BET-nee
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Turnday: 47.11.12
Weyr: Rainbow Mists Weyr
Rank: Queen Wherhandler
Family: Parents are unbonded Igen dragonriders. Has a few half siblings.
Weyrmate: None
Friends: I’m sure he has some back in Igen and no doubt he’s made friends and lovers at Rainbow. Certainly not making friends with Dalonia.
Pets: None
Appearance: A tall, well built man who is quite fit, Tellard is possessed of a darker, almost caramel complexion. His hair is black and kept cropped close to his scalp, and his eyes are dark brown. Most would consider him rather handsome as his features are pleasing to look at. He prefers clothing that accents both is form and his coloring and this reflects, perhaps, a hint of vanity in him.
(I imagine Shemar Moore for his face claim)
Personality: A rather charismatic and outgoing person, Tellard is the sort of person most people seem to like. He’s not a perfect person, however, and has the tendency to be a bit promiscuous, flirtatious and slightly chauvinistic in his dealings with women. That being said, he doesn’t object to women as riders but finds female wherhandlers to be strange as there is a higher likelihood of there being direct confrontation with a dangerous assailant. For the most part he means well, but sometimes he’s just being a dense idiot. Possessing a desire to lead and convinced that all of his ideas are amazing, he does tend to overstep his boundaries with his superiors which is just one of the less obvious reasons he was sent away from Igen.
History: The result of a mating flight, Tellard was relinquished to the Igen creche just as soon as was possible and left for the weyr to raise. If he had any contact with his birth parents, it was rare and hardly memorable. He thrived in the weyr and aspired to be a dragonrider. He was a precocious child but well loved by the women who raised him.
When Tellard became a candidate, he was diligent in his studies and duties though from time to time he did stray, especially once he reached puberty and girls became a rather fascinating thing. He had a few trysts through his candidacy, though never anything serious. Certainly he wasn’t going to jeopardize his chances of becoming a rider and so his dalliances only occurred between clutches.
Eventually Tellard aged out of candidacy and was given the option of trying for a wher. He was already well trained in nearly everything that would be needed and at the age of 26, when the next clutch was finally laid, he had his chance. The candidates were given the opportunity to interact with the eggs before they hatched and when the time came, the hatching was held similar to that of a firelizard where the future handlers stood at the ready with blood porridge to feed the hatchlings. To everyone’s surprise, the golden egg did not yield a gold as they had expected but a shining silver wher. They were even more surprised when she waddled right up to Tellard and began gnawing on his boot with her gums.
The bond was made and formed and it was made very clear from the start that once Tellsk was old enough, they would be transferring to another weyr who would tolerate her strangeness. So once the silver had reached her two turn mark, Rainbow Mists Weyr was contacted and it was arranged to have the pair transfer. Naturally they made excuses about how they didn’t have room for another queen wher or other such nonsense but everyone involved knew it was for one simple reason; the color of her hide.
Once he settled at Rainbow Mists, under the command of a rather severe and gruff woman by the name of Dalonia who seemed rather harsh. He was surprised to discover that the woman was actually a mother though he observed very little nurturing traits in her. It didn’t take long for Tellard to begin to offer up suggestions on how to improve this exercise or that rotation or even comment once or twice that the strange little Citrine that seemed to be taken care of by no one and everyone in the dens maybe shouldn’t have been allowed to live; especially because it didn’t seem to have teeth. While he’s perhaps not the favorite of his superior at the moment he has plans to work his way up and perhaps even take her place because how effective can a woman be in such a position; they get far too emotional about things and with children, being distracted by them could get someone killed.
Adoption?: Sure
Wher's Name: Tellsk
Wher’s Gender: Female
Wher's Age: 2 Turns
Wher's Color: Silver
Wher's Appearance: Tellsk, when fully grown, will be mid-size for a silver wher. Her shade of silver is on the darker side and looks almost tarnished in places, making people wonder if she might not be a haze; however her personality does not support this. Her legs are a little less bulky than your average wher which gives her a slightly more elegant look.
Wher's Personality: Tellsk is a calm, almost gentle giant, sort. She prefers to be alone for some of the day and is usually not particularly vocal for the rest of the day. She has, however, taken a shine to Misk and can sometimes be seen playing with the toothless wher at the twilight hours of the day. Perhpas not as assertive as her handler might like, Tellsk does tend to have a calming effect on the more aggressive whers of the weyr which can be a good thing, especially when Dalosk or Misk get riled.
Wher's History: Born of a Gold/Bronze clutch, it was originally thought that Tellsk would be a gold. When she was hatched as a silver it was decided almost immediately that she would be transferred out once she was old enough. Arrangements were made well before her second turn for her to go to Rainbow Mists who was currently without a queen wher.
