----Candidates are desperately needed! With only five active candidates for the nine eggs on the sands, a tragedy looms in Oowamid Weyr's future. But, will the Queen's Egg be among those lost?
Oowamid Weyr is a strongly non-canon Pern site. Featuring three playable races - humans, genetic mixtures known as Aethians and the nocturnal Nathi - and a unique magic system. There is no word count, and a heavy focus on providing a truly inclusive roleplaying environment.
After the unspeakable disaster of the Nox Æterna hatching, Oowamid Weyr is reeling.
The Queen's Egg that so many hopes were pinned on was responsible for more than a dozen deaths including the rider of one of Fort Weyr's Queens. And though impression has bound Queen Aenocteth to the same immutable lows against murdering sentients as any dragon, there is a very real fear that she marks the beginning of the end for Pern's youngest Weyr.
Nevertheless, the Weyrling Class has begun its lessons, while the Candidate Class tries to recover from the trauma.
Rumour has is that junior Queen Kotakunoth's temper has begun to grow short, suggesting that she will had her next mating flight soon, but with the number of dragonriders that abandoned the Weyr for safer territories after the bloodbath, no one is entirely sure who will even be her Weyrmate.
As summer edges into the air, bringing with it high heavy, heavy humidity, and the beginning of the impossible hurricane season, when storms large enough to swallow whole territories drive dragonriders into the shelter of the Weyr rather than out to fight threadfall, there is a sense of mourning and of doom that refuses to be shaken.
The Lady of Sombray, encouraged by her own mauling while attending Oowamid's hatching, has begun more publicly speaking out against the dangers of leaving the Weyr to its own supervision. Her guard continues to make slow "training" incursions into the western desert.
And what of the strange relics that keep washing up on the shores of the United Holds?
