77.03.02 ~ Late morning ~ Slightly cloudy ~ Edge of the Weyrbowl
It had been a few days since the day that promised a drastic change in little Kitalia’s life. She had been searched and brought to the Weyr… Naturally it was by her own wishes and agreement, but it was still a drastic change in life. Then she had gotten to know some of those in the Weyr, only to be standing for a clutch merely a few days after she had arrived. Good grief her head was still spinning… And at that fateful hatching, she had found the very soul that was fated to be joined to her for their whole lives. She had found her lifemate… Awe and joy filled her heart at this mere thought and she felt her heartbeat quicken considerably. She allowed her gaze to wander to the side and drift over the beautiful purple form. The young dragonet was taking a moment to snooze in the coolness of the day and Kita was actually finding the time and self control to sit still for a few moments. Paigleth lifted her head and fixed her dear lifemate with a curious stare. Is all well my Kita? You seem… unsettled… Kitalia gave her a warm smile and reached up to rub her neck gently and lovingly. “I’m just fine… Just thinking is all.” Thinking is good…And dangerous in the same breath. What about? Kitalia gave a gentle shrug. “Just things I guess, how I came to be here… You…” She smiled lovingly at the little purple-sunlance dragon who merely crooned lovingly at her as well.
Well this happy little scene was soon interrupted by a courier approaching her looking a little confused. Kita looked up to him curiously and cocked her head to the side. “Is everything alright?” Paigleth eyed him curiously, wondering what was going on. The man tilted his head a little as he eyed the dragonet as well as the girl. “You wouldn’t happen to be Kitalia would you?” The courier asked quietly and Kita gave a small grin before nodding enthusiastically. “I am!” The man looked rather happy about that and nodded. “Well good, I have something to deliver to you and I would say it would be good if you received it as fast as possible.” Kita furrowed her brows a little in complete confusion and blinked a couple times before sharing a rather confused glance with Paigleth before rising to her feet. “Okay?” And with that the courier nodded and walked off with purpose before coming back leading a medium built canine rather nervously. But as Kita laid eyes on the beast, her eyes widened and she gasped gently. It couldn’t be… “Tarou?” She felt tears stinging her eyes. Sure she had missed her parents in the last couple weeks, but this canine… Now she had missed him something fierce and yet here he was! The canine perked up his ears at hearing the soft girlish voice. He too had missed her something terrible.
As soon as he had heard her voice, he leapt forward, straining at his lead until he had managed to pull it from the man’s grip and he made a bee-line for the girl. Paigleth was still a little sleepy and her reflexes weren’t ready for a canine attack. MINE! She bellowed as she tried to intercept. But she was just a couple seconds too slow and the canine made contact knocking the small girl right to the ground. And there the canine was laying across her chest lapping eagerly at her face as if he hadn’t seen her in turns. And what was this? Much to Paigleth’s confusion, Kita was laughing! She sounded happy to see this crazy canine! What was this? The Purple-Sunlance paced uncertainly, growling a little. The courier was also confused, trying to get a hold on the lead. But as he saw the reunion and reactions, he soon relaxed a little, chuckling some. Nothing to fear here, just a reuniting of a canine and his girl. But Paigleth was not so easily pacified. My Kita… What is the beast doing? Are you hurt? She paced looking thoroughly lost and confused, creeling softly. Finally Tarou seemed to relax and step back off the girl, panting happily as he looked about. The courier had since taken his leave, leaving the girl to her canine. Kita laughed softly and shook her head as she sat up and rubbed the canine’s head gently. “No no, I’m sorry Paigleth… He wasn’t trying to hurt me… This is Tarou… He was my best friend at home…” She murmured softly trying to calm the frightened dragonet, reaching out to rub her head as well trying to sooth her.
Paigleth still didn’t know about this beast and moved forward to touch it gently with her nose. The canine whirled around and growled a warning. Paigleth lifted her head and snorted a bit and Kita giggled a little. “Relax Tarou… This is Paigleth… She won’t hurt you…” Once again Paigleth allowed her curiosity to win out and moved up to come nose to nose with the canine, both sniffing eachother warily. Finally seeming to be appeased, each moved to either side of the girl and lay down. It seemed there would be an uneasy peace for now… But it was made rather clear that neither really liked the other… At least not yet. Kita huffed softly and leaned back against a rather conveniently placed rock and sighed gently. What a day… Well she would allow her attention to wander for the moment. This was bliss… Could it get any better? Or perhaps worse… This was yet to be seen. But for now, she would simply revel in this moment. Reunited with her canine, united with her lifemate… Life was good, and the adventure of it could only get better. Of that she was certain.
