Afternoon
D’ziel was honestly a little floored by the announcement that had broken over Ice Stone Weyr. It wasn’t that he was completely in the dark, he’d heard a lot of what had happened from his friends and family back at Rainbow Mists. Still, it was not something he had ever really thought about happening. So he was thinking it over now.
The dining hall was warm and inviting, especially for trying to get the cold out of your bones after wing practice. It wasn’t any proper meal time, so he had picked up Pounce on the way and gathered himself a warm mug and a snack. The feline was agreeable, enjoying the lap she was presented with, warming it up with her presence. Between nibbles of bread and sips of strong Halk D’ziel pet the purring creature and thought about war. Well not directly about war. Mostly about his friends and family.
He hadn’t completely failed to make friends at ISW, it had been rather slower than before though. Part of it was that he himself was quieter. He hadn’t noticed it so much back before he left, but that was because he had his friends, he didn’t have to go out of his way to make new ones. He would probably always be a ‘southern rider’ to some of the people here, but that didn’t mean he didn’t like it here. But he wanted to go back to Rainbow Mists now. Not because he wanted to be at that weyr, but because if everyone from his childhood was going to face the war square on, well, he wanted to stand with them. That wasn’t feasible though. Ice Stone wasn’t going to go against Rainbow Mists, so he needn’t worry about that, but it was going to be different up here. He didn’t know what it was going to be up here.
He sighed and took another sip of his Halk and pet Pounce again. There might not be any use it worrying about stuff he couldn’t change, but when there was something big, he couldn’t help it. War, that was certainly big enough to worry about.
