Name: Lord Famoran Telakes
Pronunciation: Fah-more-an Teh-la-kess
Gender: Male
Age: 38 Turns
Turnday: 3038.03.15 (or the 30th Turn of the 11th Pass)
Location: Stormy Plains Hold
Rank: Lord Holder
Family:
Wife: Lady Meralla (36)
Sons: Jatheiron (17), Karalt (12)
Daughter: Fallara (14)
Mother: Calyra (60), was from Praetori Caravan
Sisters: Jasmira (35), Gaviel and Tielara (Twins, 32).
Pets: Flitts: Purple (f) Rita, Bronze Xantos. Runnerbeast: palomino (m) Hawk (Earth reference: looks like a half-arabian).
Appearance: The first thing to strike you about Lord Famoran is his hooked nose and high, pronounced cheekbones. The next is the intense sapphire blue gaze, which contrasts strongly with his dark tan skin and his cromcoal-black hair. The lines of his face are strong and hard, but slight wrinkles at the corners of his eyes give testimony to frequent smiles. He stands moderately above average, at 6’0”, though his muscular build actually makes him look a little shorter than he really is.
Personality: Lord Famoran posses both determination and a strong will, but the major trait in his possession is intelligence on both learning and social levels. He is capable of controlling himself, but he feels very strongly about most things that he encounters. He dislikes having to compromise, even in the slightest, what he feels is right, even to obtain a greater good. He is very certain of himself and knows (self-awareness style) who and what he is, which gives him an advantage when he must do something disagreeable to many, for even those who disagree with him find that they almost have to listen when he talks. For all of this, he is customarily polite, and genuinely tries to listen to others and understand where they are coming from. Others have occasionally mistaken this willingness to listen for weakness of will, but one need only ask the former crime rings to discover the truth.
History: Famoran was the eldest of four children, and the only boy. He idolized his father, and followed him everywhere, trying his best to live up what was expected of him. He learned with exceptional quickness, which was fortunate, for he lost his father when he was only 13 Turns old, leaving him to learn much of a Lord Holder’s duties through trial and error — though to be certain, Famoran was intelligent enough to make use of advisers and the knowledgeable Warder, and this, coupled with his natural intelligence, prevented him from making very many mistakes.
He quickly became the strongest Lord Holder that Stormy Plains had seen since before his grandfather, Lord Fortel, had come to power. His father had begun eradicating the largest of the organized crime rings; he finished it (though the crime rate is still elevated beyond what some would expect, due in no small part to the fact that an entire generation grew up with organized crime as a practical Craft in itself).
When Lord Famoran was 16, his advisers started constantly arranging for him to attend Gathers with young ladies of around his age and rank. They also reminded him often, as if he needed them to, that it would be to the benefit of all if he married, for no one wanted a repeat of when the unprepared Fortel had been made Lord Holder because there were none closer in bloodline. Famoran agreed with their points, but when he was 18 he faced them all down over what he referred to as “the party schedule”, stating that he was the Lord Holder first, and any other concerns, including marriage, were secondary. He further informed them that while he did agree with their points, he found the idea of being continuously gone from his Hold for large periods of time to be a bad one, reminded them that there were still several crime rings that would jump at the opportunities presented by his absence. The advisers were surprised, but eventually had to concede the point, since the Warder was backing Lord Famoran. It was after that meeting that he noticed Meralla, the third daughter of the then Lord Holder of Golden Flight Hold, for the first time (her brother is the current Lord Holder). He’d seen her before, for she was a good friend to his sister Jasmira, being as there was less than a Turn’s difference in their ages, but he hadn’t noticed her until then. She was wearing a dark blue dress, with her red hair pulled up and back, leaving small wisps hanging down to brush her neck and shoulders. She had laughed at something, and Famoran had been convinced that the sun had just burst into the corridor. He had remained there, silent, seeing nothing but her, until a second laugh joined in, recalling him to his senses. Abruptly he had realized his sister Jasmira was standing in the corridor as well, and felt his face heat. Jasmira had informed him that they were going for a ride, and, in what could be called a fit of irrational protectiveness, he had insisted on coming along. By the end of the day he had given up pretenses and asked Meralla if she would like to spend some time with him when she next visited. She answered in the affirmative, and when she left to return home, Famoran was to be found moping most disconsolately around the window. Finally, he had sighed and returned to work. He’d been in love often enough to recognize the signs in himself, though he had been certain (and is still certain) that it had never come close to how he felt about Meralla. The arrangements went flawlessly, and it came as no surprise to anyone when Famoran and Meralla were wed two turns later, on the summer Solstice.
The birth of his son, Jatheiron, almost exactly twelve months after the marriage, was a cause of great celebration, as were the later births of his daughter Fallara and his second son, Karalt. From the very first, Famoran was involved in every aspect of his children’s lives, and he regretted that he could not be even more so. He took time to play with them, taught them to ride, and helped with any problems they encountered. He also involved Jatheiron in the running of the Hold. He's also involved his younger children in the task as well, something his youngest isn't too keen on. He also acts as a sort of extra parent for his children’s friends, a trait that he shares with Meralla.
