With the help of Flute and Drum and a kindly young man that she wasn't sure if she knew or not, Alyga had been settled into a seat in the very front row. Everything was a beige blur with a large golden, fuzzy blob but she could sort of make out the movement of candidates entering the sands and she smiled. Flute, humming contentedly on her right shoulder flashed her images of the young men and women in white robes as well as of the eggs while the ever surly Drum, her staunch protector, eyed anyone close enough to touch her or do possible harm. Everything seemed to be going swimmingly. Flute would flash an image whenever a new dragon hatched and she would listen to the reactions of the crowd. A relatively uneventful hatching which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
Drum tensed on her shoulder, his claws pricking her a second before a loud, unexpected bugle caused the woman to jump with a cry. Flute sent her a frantic image of a green dragon twisting in the air overhead and then there was a blurred flash of the same green color and hands were grabbing at her, pushing her down and out of her seat. Drum hissed and scratched at the hands that had pressed his mistress to the ground but settled as it became clear that they were trying to protect her.
Mere seconds later another deafening bellow that brought tears to Alyga's dark eyes had her covering her head as she pressed herself against the warm stone of the wall. Flute wedged herself between the woman's arms and chest and Drum laid himself across the harper's face and spread his wings as sand started flying. Terrified and having no way of knowing what was going on, Alyga curled around her little pink with a whimper and started to sing shakily under her breath to calm herself but it wasn't working very well.
There were screams and shouts and sand everywhere and a thud vibrated the stone wall shortly before the sound of claws scrambling on stone could be heard through the ringing in her ears. With flute cowering and Drum trained to protect more than to be her eyes she was terrified that something had landed above her on the wall and in an attempt to drown out the sound that assaulted her ears, she began to sing louder, one of the older songs of dragonmen. No doubt it drew a few strange looks from those around her but she was oblivious to it, just trying to keep from screaming or fainting as the world seemed to be falling apart around her in a blurry haze.
