Name: D'lan Peiton
Pronunciation: Die-lan Pay-tawn
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Turnday: 10.26.2050
Sexuality: Homosexual
Weyr: Rainbow Mists Weyr
Rank: Weyrhealer
Family: His mother was Valoria, a Greenrider, and his father was D'lenan, a Brownrider. Since his parents were wingriders, as well, he grew up in the nursery at Igen Weyr where he was reared by the Headwoman. They remain very close, and D'lan considers her his real mother. He doesn't have a good relationship with his parents; Valoria considers him one of many, while D'lenan despises him for not Impressing a king dragon.
Weyrmate: None
Friends: D'lan doesn't have many friends because of his guarded nature.
Pets: none
Appearance: D'lan is a short young man, standing barely 5 feet 4 inches, with a surprising amount of lean muscle on his body. He has black hair, bronze skin, and enchanting amber colored eyes framed by long, thick lashes. His appearance is more feminine than masculine, with plump lips, a pointed chin, and high cheekbones. He's often shy because of this. He has a large scar on his chest from where he was mauled by a queen dragon, and numerous smaller scars from his time fighting in the Igen War.
Personality: D'lan is reserved by nature, capable of socializing with anyone on the surface level but has a hard time delving into deep conversation. Because of his tumultuous relationship with his parents, it's hard for him to trust others, and he'll usually test them out before spending time with them. Below the surface, though, he's fiercely loyal once he grows close to someone, and will sometimes help others at his own expense.
History: Born and raised in Igen Weyr, D'lan developed a deep sense of duty and devotion to his Weyr. At first, he wanted to pursue a career as a Weyrhealer because of his aversion to dragons; at a young age, he tried to sneak into the Hatching Cavern to see a newly laid clutch and was mauled by the queen dragon. It left a huge scar on his chest, which he's deeply self-conscious of, and he nearly lost his life. Since then, he developed a phobia of dragons and never planned to become a rider.
In his tenth turn, his adopted mother the Headwoman arranged for him to become an apprentice Weyrhealer. He took to the job naturally with a very good bedside manner and deft, gentle hands. At eighteen, he became a Journeyman Healer, and attended a dragon hatching in case any of the Candidates were mauled. Remembering his own experience, he stayed as far away from the sands as possible, but that didn't deter Adorith. The moment she hatched from her egg, she went straight for Dylan. Terrified by the green, he ran away, and the Weyrlingmaster had to wrangle him back to care for his green.
Weyrling and dragon had a very difficult relationship at first, with D'lan confronting his phobia and Adorith unable to understand why her rider didn't like her. It was very disturbing for the Weyrlingmaster, who set aside time to give them special lessons. It wasn't until their flight lessons that D'lan fell in love with the freedom of flight and learned to trust Adorith, even if she performed the most ridiculous stunts. After that, he devoted himself to his studies and graduated at the top of his Weyrling class. But he didn't quite overcome his fear; he loves Adorith, but he's still nervous around other dragons.
After graduating from Weyrling training, Igen Weyr went to war with Rainbow Mists, and he was caught in the crossfire. He fought valiantly for his Weyr, and he and Adorith have the scars to prove it. But once peace was announced, it was decided that D'lan would be sent as an emissary of sorts to foster goodwill and peace between the Weyrs. He was transferred to Rainbow Mists Weyr recently with that goal in mind.
Adoption?: Yes
Dragon's Name: Adorith
Dragon’s Gender: Female
Dragon's Age: 10 Turns
Dragon's Color: Green
Dragon's Appearance: Adorith is a pale jade color, and her underbelly is an even paler shade of green. She's very proud of her hide and makes D'lan oil her regularly to keep up the shine.
Dragon's Personality: Adorith is the stereotypical green; she loves attention, which is the exact opposite of D'lan and tends to put him in compromising situations. She'll do anything to get people to notice her, whether that means flirting or performing a dramatic aerial stunt. But beneath her flirtatious behavior, she adores D'lan and would do anything for him. If anyone insults him or ignores him, she becomes very indignant on his behalf and isn't afraid to speak her mind to whoever offended her. Also, she tends to hold a grudge, so whoever crosses her will have to do quite a bit to get back into her good graces.
Dragon's History: Adorith was born in the fifth clutch of Golden Henmintoth. She knew she was the most beautiful dragon in the entire clutch and flaunted it, annoying her female brethren to the point of exclusion. It deeply frustrated her, and she went out of her way to befriend her clutch siblings; she gave them portions of her food, complimented them on their apppearance, and tried to chatter with them. But at the same time, she flirted with the dragons, even deigning to catch the attention of a few bronzes. The young golden queen didn't like this and attacked her one day, leaving a scar on her neck. The Weyrlingmaster had to keep them separated, but Adorith realized that negative attention was still a form of attention, too. So she kept flirting with the bronzes and higher dragons to get attention from her clutch siblings, including the young queen.
Once she began flight training with her rider - who she thought was the most handsome, most brave, most daring rider of them all - she practiced aerial stunts for more attention. It awed a few dragons, winning them to her side, but alienated more who were jealous of her skill. She trained until she was one of the best in the skies, able to maneuver at a moment's notice or stop and dive. It's something she takes great pride in, and she'll challenge others to races without a second thought.
When she rises in flight, she'll only let the best dragons catch her, which usually means bronzes or other kings. She's a snob like that.
