It was bound to happen, eventually.



It was only a matter of time.....

Twenty turns into the Ninth Pass, and at the decision of the Conclave, a new Weyr location was sought. Overcrowding was getting to be a problem for many of the Northern, and Southern Weyrs. Along with the overcrowding, a rumor began to spread. Two young women allowed their greens to clutch! One produced four eggs and none hatched, the green having been caught by a blue. The second green produced seven eggs, though, two eggs didn't hatch. The second Green's clutch joined the ranks of Ista Weyr, since she'd been caught there and her clutch had been sired by one of their browns. One of their very large browns at that.



It took two Turns to build Crystal Storm Weyr, once a suitable location had been found. It was named Crystal Storm for the fact that there is a cave on the Western Range mountains that has a small naturally formed crystal cave. For it being given the second word 'storm' was that during the coldest winters, there is a storm that moves right through the valley, but it only happens when it in the middle of winter and only lasts for one sevenday. Once the Weyr was completed, two goldriders, Cerhen of Mavth and Iomah of Jynth, led two full wings to the new Weyr. Barely a month after arriving and settling in, Jynth rose first and became the Senior Queen with her rider as Senior Weyrwoman. Four Turns seperated Iomah and Cerhen, Cerhen being the oldest. Despite the age difference, the two Queenriders got along fine, like sisters.



It was near the end of the Ninth Pass. The Weyrs and the Holds of the North, and then the South, were prospering and life was finally getting good as most of Pern's people were looking forward to the next Interval. A curious pair were out exploring the and found a fair of wild Firelizards. The images the group sent to the young Rider's dragon caused a flurry of excitement. The rider and dragon, with the help of the wild fair of Firelizards found the site of Landing, the first place humans set foot on Pern. A short time later and AIVAS, the Artificial Intelligence Voice Address System computer, was discovered. AIVAS helped to erradicate Thread forever. Many marvels were discovered in the Catherine Caves. The Healers and the Harpers were overwhelmed with the medical and musical knowledge gained from the archives of AIVAS.

But, there was a problem.

Hardly any of the tools that required power, could not be used. Many of the Master Crafters, joined together to build the first dam to be used to make power. It failed. The Master Crafters gave up, by the request of the Masterharper of Pern. The dam had burst, two huge chunks of the concrete they had been able to make, flew out and hit a bronze and a brown, killing both dragons instantly. Their Riders were killed when they fell to the ground. A green and blue had attempted to rescue the Riders but failed. Despite this disaster, the Healers were able to modify procedures and technigues. Cleaning procedures were replaced with newer once from the information that many Apprentice Harpers had managed to copy, when making paper was halted in regards to cutting down too many trees. The best ways of travel were still boats on water, dragons in the sky, and runners, or equines, on the ground.



During the twenty eight Turns of Crystal Storm's existance, the Leadership changed four times. For the first time after many Turns Senior Queen, Jynth, clutched seventeen eggs with two Gold Eggs graced Crystal Storm's Hatching Sands. Upon hatching day, the Hatchling Queen chose Vistra to be hers, calling herself Sookieth. The second Queen impressed without a fuss either. A turn later and another clutch was laid and another Queen Egg rested on the sands. This Queen hatchling didn't wait to choose hers, calling herself Talleth, she chose Iola. And a strange new color hatched, a silver! An obvious female, chose hers, and has grown into a marvelous dragoness. Two turns after her hatching, Sookieth had her first flight and was caught by bronze Billth. She clutched 17 eggs but no Gold Egg, still a healthy sized clutch for a Queen's first clutch.



And then the new turn came for the third Interval. There was much celebrating and drinking, as the new Turn began. A new Turn, and no thread! It was shortly after the new Turn had begun that Iomah and Cerhen announced that they would be stepping down. Iomah named Vistra her successor. Cerhen named the second Queen from Jynth's clutch 3 turns ago as her successor. Sookieth had her second flight in month five, and again she was caught by bronze Billth. A month later, Sookieth is on the sands clutching. The resulting clutch was twenty-two eggs, and a Queen Egg! The time came and went and before anyone knew it, the eggs were hatching! A few days after Sookieth's eggs hatched, all healthy of course, green Zoraidath took her place on the sands and clutched five eggs! She was the first green to clutch in twenty-nine Turns! Two months later and Zoraidath's clutch hatched, but only one egg remained still.



Sookieth's and Zoraidath's clutches both graduated into Riders. Saranth flew a month early, just before graduation. She had a fairly nice sized clutch when she ventured to the sands to begin clutching. Upon hatching, a new color appeared, named Garnets. One male and one female, it was later learned.
