Adiana felt a warm touch, sleepy and warm, flood her mind. She smiled to herself at the rim of her mug before taking a long sip of klah to warm her insides on the bitter morning. /Good morning, Tinidrith./ she spoke softly to the slowly awakening dragon. She felt a comforting wave wash over her as Tinidrith replied, ~Early again I see...Mine must you do this?~ she prodded, mentioning the heavy writing and thoughts Adiana had been having lately. She was lacking her own sleep, thriving off klah and spending time writing in a leather bound, thick book that was meant for her studies and thoughts. /If I didn't I would forget it all! However this lack of sleep is getting to me./ she yawned at that motion and proceeded to take another hard swig of her first morning mug. She began to jot down other random thoughts, next to a page with a visible sketch of her beautiful little white dragon in the top left corner. Insomnia seemed to consume Adiana these days, her alienation after Weyrling training from other riders mostly due to her dedication to Tinidrith and helping the sick of the Weyr. Often she would be found in the kitchens near the hearth soaking up the warmth while Tinidrith snoozed in their quaint weyr. She never felt the loneliness in her heart, as Tinidrith was all the companionship she'd ever need, but it would be nice to have communication from other than her dragon and the Healers from the Hall while living in the Weyr.

D’ziel stretched as she headed into the dining hall. He was missing the more regular daylight hours of RMW. He usually did in the wintertime. Still, he was ISW now. Didn’t mean it didn’t annoy him that he was short of daytime.
He looked around trying to figure out how he was feeling today. Halk or Klah? He might need the Halk, even if he preferred Klah. He picked up a mug of the former even as he looked longingly at the latter. He could feel the gaze from Hocteth from the Bowl. The Moonlight might have opinions about his actions but he expected that he was being granted a reprieve from lectures at this hour.
He appreciated that.
D’ziel picked up the rest of his breakfast before taking a look around. He spied one of the other riders with a journal. He tried to remember who, but all he could remember was she was paired to a White. He figured he might as well try to be pleasant in the morning.
“Good morning. Do you might if I sit here?” He motioned to the other side of the table, so as to give her room to write. He wondered what she might be up too, but other than a very nice doodle he didn’t know.

Adiana looked up to the figure from her seat at the table. His face familiar but a name she couldn't recall. He made a gesture, she stared for a moment puzzled before she realized he must want to sit across from her. She nodded feverishly and patted the table top across from her with an outstretched arm.
She then took her free hand that wasn't holding charcoal to write with and brought her flat palm to her chest, touching it lightly three times. She then gestured to her ears, left then right, and let her hand fall as she shook her head in a "no" signal and grinned haphazardly and turned to the very first page in her book that was written as a disclosure it seemed.
"I am Adiana of White Tinidrith. I can not hear. I am happy to converse and help any way I can. If need be, we can communicate by writing and I can also attempt to read lips as long as you speak clearly.
Side note: If can manage to communicate to Tinidrith, my dragon will relay messages."
She then slid the open book across the table to the man, leaving it for him to read. A pang of excitement ran through her body. It wasn't often someone would sit her opposite in the Kitchens. Usually she was avoided because of hard communication.
D’ziel watched the pause before she nodded for him to take a seat. He hoped he wasn’t somehow unnerving for her. His expression clouded for a moment before sharpening to attention as she motioned. His head listed slightly to the side as he watched, something was wrong with her hearing? He sat as she finished motioning and he settled the tray with his food. He was trying to figure out his bearings. She was fine with him sitting here so there was that, but he didn’t know-
Oh, the journal was being oriented for him to read. Okay then. He pulled it toward him to read properly.
Ah, okay. So she did want to talk. Or was okay with it anyway. He smiled and turned the journal back to her.
“It’s nice to meet you Adiana. I am D’ziel of Moonlight Hocteth.” He tried to speak clearly without being too self-conscious. He hoped he just sounded relaxed. Well, not sounded to her he supposed. “I hope I’m not interrupting your work.” Whatever work that might be.

Adiana beamed at D'ziel, taking note of the D, z and l coming off of his lips in his name. The word Moonlight registered but the dragon's name did not. A little voice popped in her head feverishly, ~He is D'ziel of Moonlight Hocteth.~
Adiana nodded slightly to herself before turning to a blank page in her journal. She began to scribble down some words, noting the man's last sentence had the word work in it, 'I am working on new healing techniques. Some new herbal salves that can help with cough when rubbed on the chest as well as healing skin ailments.' she then slide the journal back to him for him to read.
She could speak, some what clearly, but she preferred to break the ice this way before she started her ramblings that were only coherent when spoken slowly and well listened to. She did want to make an attempt however, "Ti-ni-th says yu are Moo-na-liht rd'r. Ni-ice to meeet yoo." she did her best to sound out her words in hopes the rider wouldn't find her too hard to communicate to.
