Because it pained me to read the cbox. I do this out of love.
Dance was right that we are in the 3073rd Turn. We are in the 15th Turn of the 11th Interval.
8 Turns into being on Pern Thread started falling, so the "9th Turn" on Pern was Turn ONE of the First pass. The First Interval was after that.
So it goes
1 Pass
1 Interval
2 Pass
2 Interval
A Pass = 50 Turns, an Interval = 200 Turns. A "Long Interval" is a cycle where no thread fell (200 + 50 no thread + 200) and is 450 Turns long.
We are in Interval 11, which as far as I know, is as far as any Pern RP that follows the timeline has gone. But then that's just as far as I know. Feel free to comment on this.
So Birthdays, or Turndays.
Kaya was born in the 180th Turn of the 10th Interval. So she's thirty in the 10th Turn of the 11th Pass, where we left off. (I love how everyone, including me, bases our history off of how old she was when stuff happened. I also date using her children...)
So your char is +55 Turns after the time skip. So to find their birthday (Turnday) you need to know how old they were either now (in the 15th Turn, Interval 11) or then (in the 10th Turn, Pass 11).
Let's use Kaya as an example.
She was 30 in the 10th Turn of the 11th Pass. So minus 10 Turns to get out of the 11th Pass and into the 10th Interval. Then minus 20 more Turns. That's Turn 180 of Interval 10, or the 2988th Turn overall.
If we know that she's 85 in the 15th Turn of the 11th Interval, minus 15 to get back to the 11th Pass, minus 50 to get back to the 10th Interval, then minus 20 (85-15-50 = 20) from 200 to get 180.
If anyone wants me to help them with their numbers I'd be glad to help. I think this dating system is really cool and worth using in conjunction with "Turns overall". Times with and without Threadfall are a huge deal to the Pernese, so it makes sense why they date their calendar by it.
Numbers you may need:
10th Interval = 200 Turns
11th Pass = 50 Turns
11th Interval = 15 Turns in (and 185 Turns to go until the 12th Pass)
There were 3 long intervals in Pernese history and the reason for their occurrence is explained in the books. They don't happen near our timeline though, so it shouldn't factor into birth dating.
