Flights
The role player of the dragon in Flight selects the victor. It follows then that each RPer will favor different qualities. Good luck.
A non-clutching dragon may Fly at any realistic time, no admin permission required. A clutching dragon must receive permission before their Flight.
If you chose to participate in a Queen Flight it is expected that your character will have at least one post following each post made by the Queen.
All Flight scenes must exclude mature content.
Hatchings
The ratio of common, uncommon and rare dragonets is determiend once the mother dragon's Flight finishes. Using the ratio the colors of dragonets will then be determined with size of the parents being the largest influencing factor. Current and upcoming plots and events can also influence the inclusion of certain dragonet colors in a Hatching.
Staff and the Hatching Host will discuss to whom all dragonets will Impress. The Hatching Host may include suggestions. The Staff's decision is final.
After the staff determines the number of dragonets and their rarities the list is given to the the role player of the dragoness or "Hatching Host". The Hatching Host is responsible for selecting colors according to the distribution, submitting this selection for approval by staff, and then creating short biographies for the dragonets. If a Queen is to be included in the Hatching the staff will inform the Hatching Host.
A dragonet must come with a name and an outline of a growing personality (2-4 sentences). Information or quirks beyond this are not required but are encouraged at the discretion of the Hatching Host. When finished, the dragonet bios will be quickly reviewed by a staff member.
A Hatching Host may delegate dragonet creation or a portion of the creation to another member with staff approval or to the staff itself. Hex codes must be provided. One option is to use this online hex code generator. If the Host cannot or does not wish to provide hex codes they can request that a staff member help select them.
Candidates at Rainbow Mists are rarely left standing. If your character is left standing the most common reasons are that they were inactive or the Hatching had a small number of dragonets. If you wish for your character to be left standing please let the staff know.
Colors associated with Dark Mists Weyr are not permitted to Clutch.
Dragonet Selection Process
1. The number of eggs for the Hatching is selected randomly
1-3 White sized (14ft-20ft)
1-5 Green sized (20ft-25ft)
2-7 Blue sized (25ft-30ft)
2-9 Brown sized (29ft-35ft)
4-12 Bronze sized (35ft-40ft)
7-25 Gold sized (40ft-46ft+)
For Blue size and up the ends of the range are weighted to be uncommon and occur 10% of the time. Uncommon clutch sizes are:
Blue: 2, 7
Brown: 2, 9
Bronze: 4, 5, 11, 12
Gold: 7, 8, 9, 23, 24, 25
2. The rarity distribution for dragonet colors is selected randomly. Numbers are assigned a rarity (1-N as Common, and so on). For each egg a number between 1 and 100 is generated. This is the basic structure for egg determination. Plot circumstances can mildly alter results.
C x C = 75% C, 25% U
C x U = 70% C, 30% U
C x R = 65% C, 30% U, 5%
U x U = 60% C, 30% U, 10% R
U x R = 45% C, 40% U, 15% R
R x R = 40% C, 40% U, 20% R
3. This list of eggs and their rarities is sent to the Hatching Host, who prepares a dragonet form and a suggested Impression for each dragonet.
4. The staff reviews the list and any changes are discussed and made. Then the list is approved.
5. The Hatching Host runs the Hatching starting on the selected date. Hatchings should run about a week real world time.
