I was curious the other night to see if I could find one of these things, as I have found certain tables for character generation before, though they were more for tabletop RPGs like DND and Deathwatch.
But I came across a very interesting page that contains tons of material for help with Pernese characters, and I even made a character generated with these tables that turned out to be an awesome character indeed.
While the information on these tables can be rolled for randomly, it can also simply just be taken as suggestion or chosen from what you like best.

None of the material here dictates character's ultimate personality or history, however some parts of their personality and their appearance as well as a light background can be rolled for at random if you're having a problem deciding in a particular area. The character I made, I rolled on just about every table, and he turned out like this:
He's a 15 year old male wher Candidate from the Southern Boll region, he is the member of a nomadic clan of families that travel the Southern Boll region, and practice just about any Craft or profession there is (save for those who are Searched, who leave). He has streaked strawberry/red hair in a loose braid that falls to his mid-back, his adult height will be 5'2", and he is muscular. I rolled high on his physical attractiveness (only off from the highest roll by 1) so he's very attractive and has brown eyes and olive tan skin. He is giving and unselfish, cares a lot about educating the young children in his clan, and likes being around people. This made me say he was very sociable and kind, though he ended up being a very impolite person which I explained as coming from his lack of formality due to his clan upbringing, in which everyone knew each other closely. He has 9 siblings, of which he is the youngest, all of whom were randomly rolled. They have all sorts of professions, and one is a runaway Flit Racer, one went missing at sea, and one died of natural causes. Six of his siblings are half-siblings, and three are his full-blooded siblings, including his closest sister and confidant and his almost-twins-but-not-twin brothers. He likes to eat fish, hates bread, and is allergic to dogs. He's a great cook and enjoys food very much.
This isn't all that there is to him, but this is most of the generated material. Other stuff includes that he's illiterate, an illegitimate child, etc. All the rest of his stuff (history, in-depth personality, etc) was based on this information, and turned out to be super-deep and very well-done.
So I highly recommend this process if you are stuck, especially if it's only on a couple things (such as what Craft they practice, how many siblings they have, or whether or not they are rich/poor, even what their relationship with their family is) or if you want to create a character but have absolutely no idea what kind of character you want.
This site also contains options for character who aren't Pernese, however it was originally intended for those on Pern, so if you roll a roll that is incompatible with Pern culture or whatever, just reroll. *nod*
