The breeze off the ocean was lovely. The familiar scent of salt in the air was very natural for the candidate who was sitting on the shore. For the moment, there were not many people around. She hadn’t spotted a dragon near, nor firelizard, nor anything that flew. It was quiet here but for the soothing sounds of waves. She had been sitting her for a little while, string in her lap, as she untangled the mess. She was almost done getting everything straightened out, when a puff of breeze tugged at the string, hoping to get a piece for itself. The olive hand kept the string right where it was, untangling the last bit. Cyan looked it over before letting a contented smile play over her face. Now was the fun part.
She took the lengths of string in hand, beginning to sing a little song. It was not a great performance, but nothing to send anyone running away with their hands clapped to their ears. As she sang she started tying the string together, knotting it cleverly into shapes. It was an easy way to practice knots and not have to deal with a boring series of squares at the end. She had learned from some of the other fisherman their favorite shapes, and was trying one of the more difficult ones now. “Have you seen her flying? Have you heard her clever song? It’s the lovely lifewing Kiyosh, healing all the day long.” The lifewing shapes were harder then the dragon shapes really, mostly because the impression of feathers was much harder to convey. Of course, half the point was to make mistakes and thus practice the knots more. She always thought it was clever how that worked. So she kept singing about her favorite lifewing while she practiced, enjoying the sea air. It was a lovely day.
