Appearance:
Long, thick, black hair often forms a screen around her face. Often times,s he has braided a ribbon or beads into it which she wears proudly. Though, when flying, she will always braid it tightly together down her back or, even, sometimes pull that braid around itself into a bun and fasten it. She is a woman of strong, defined features. He high cheekbones and her rather short, if broad nose are attractive. Her arching eyebrows and large, almond shaped eyes spark with intelligence and defiance. Her lips are full and well defined.
She does not often smile, though, when she does, it is brilliant and breathtaking, her teeth being rather white. Her heart shaped face, though beautiful, is marred by scars near her left ear and along the side of her face on the right from Maetioth herself.
She stands tall and proud. She is unashamed and unabashed by her scars, her back and her arms bearing them as well. If they were prominently on the front part of her face, things might be a bit different.
Talithia's hands are somewhat bony, but not because she is too thin. She has broad shoulders and a strong, if rather accentuated feminine build. She is stocky, not slim and is rather well muscled, used to the hard labor that comes with working as a beastcrafter. That was her life before impressing to Maetioth. She is tall, standing at nearly six feet. Her imposing stature, teh fact she rides a Copper and her overall confidence in stance and action make her seem to be a force to be recond with to most.
Personality:
If there is one thing that you could say for Talithia's personlity and hope to sum up the bulk of who she is... call her controlling. For that is entirely true. Talithia likes to be in control of each detail of her life. She likes to plan, follow, and understand everything. She adores her Maetioth, but she despises when the dragoness atempts to control her, for, since Talithia was a girl, she has always considered herself in control of her own life and anyone else trying to take over is often met with hostility.
In addition, Talithia has a temper that is nearly as cold as a copper's is hot. However... she has much better control of it, capable of rendering it moot to a certain degree... When lost, Talithia can be a avery different person. She can be sly as a snake and cold as a viper. Her anger is not hot once it is lost... but cold, caculating... but, at the same time, out of its own control. She will say and do things she never would have normally. She may take actions that others would never have though her capable of.
Talithia is not a particularly happy or unhappy person day to day. She simply is. She will do what needs to be done in a way which is calm, cool, and calculating. What is is. What isn't isn't. It is not worth worrying about tomorrow or trying to even be happy. Life gives you things you can't control, so control yourself. That is what she says. Though she often will fail and that in itself will make her very angry with herself, causing her additional problems. But, overall, she sees not point in deluding one's self with how good the world is. After all, the world decided to hand her and her copper an immediate bad reaction and due to the hatred towards them, their relationship became very poisonous as they turned their irritation on each other from time to time.
Talithia is naturally a pragmatist. Her claim to be a realist is quite true in that sense. However, she is often at odds with herself as she claims to be trying to take what life gives her while trying to control every aspect of her life.
If confronted with a bad situation, Talithia's first instinct will be to try to remain calm, control her temper, and talk her way out of it. Her second will be to attack with words, and her third will to be to cause physical harm if need be.
She could be a wonderful political mind if only given the chance.
History:
Talithia was born the daughter of a beastcrafter and a Master Healer. How that happened, she still doesn't understand. Her mother is often at the Healer hall and her father is often tending the fields. She has never seen them as happy to be together or happy to have a life or children. She has only seen them bicker over what their children will do with their lives. She, being the eldest, had her fate won by her father, and she began working with him on the fields.
She despised the work at first. She hated to be out in the sun doing hard work, working with the runners. But... that was when she was taught. You can control your attitude. She was young and the idea set in very well, very very deeply. It grew and grew in her and more and more she learned to control. She learned to control her life - what she could. It was something she picked up from spending time with her father. She was his favorite for that reason. He could mold her and shape her. Teach her to be like him.
She learned to well and she grew to be much like her father, but with a more feminine grace and appearance of her mother. To her father, she was perfect. And he would often boast and gloat of her. It even came to a point where he started to spoil her, though she still worked then. He treated her like a princess in most respects.
However, he would not be happy (not wanting to lose his favorite daughter) when a blue rider on search came to Golden Flight Hold and declared her to be Candidate material at the age of sixteen turns that he was the proudest of her. Oh yes! His daughter was dragonrider material! She, of course, was no less than a gold rider in his eyes. And that was what she would be.
...She stood for two turns without Impressing, but becoming more accustomed to Wery life. And Weyr freedoms. Her more manipulative nature came out here where it was free to roam, free to exert what level of control she could over the others around her. Which, of course, wasn't all that much.
She was not convinced, like her father, that she was a queen rider or meant for any dragon of power or prestige. In fact. She was ready to accept a small male or female. But what she did end up Impressing in her seventeenth turn (two turns ago) was far more terrifying.
It was the same hatching from which Archith was born. And it was a terror. A color not seen on Pern of late and hardly accepted. It was Copper. And she was angry and terrifying. She mauled a green and killed her. She nipped and bit candidates before she mauled her rider, Talithia, but none of them were killed.
It was finally Talithia she set her claws and her teeth too. The poor girl would bare scars on her arms, her back, and a fore mentioned on her face. But she fought back. NO! This would not be her fate! She would not let this... ths THING kill her!
That was when it happened, the cool voice slithered into her mind, sounding much like a snake. You will do, Talithia. I am your Maetioth. Now. You will serve me. Feed me this instant.
Talithia's first reaction was to scramble to her feet and hiss at the hatchling herself. "I WILL NOT SERVE YOU MAETIOTH!" she yelled at the top of her voice. NO! She was the one in control! Not this... this copper monster! She was a mess. She was bleeding and hurt. Only her adrenaline and need to get away - need to be in control drove her to even attempt to stand. This thing would not rule her.
And that is where it started. A controlling dragon with a controlling girl in a constant battle to control each other. If Maetioth ever flew (which the dragoness is determined that she will as she believes herself a queen), Talithia would hate to see the results.
Their problems persisted through Weyrling training. Maetioth sought to control all of her siblings. The only one she listened to or even attempted to make an ally of was her sister Archith. Of course, whether it failed or not would really be up to Archith herself to say.
Talithia found that she drew away more and more for people and loved her dragoness, but both were unyielding and strong willed. This stupid copper will not rule her. Maetioth hates the idea of chewing stone and will do her best not to do so. Maetioth would be willing to defy a gold despite the difficulty and the consequences and with that... could cause them qutie some trouble. It is a good thing that she has not yet had to attempt it.
Unaccepted by the Weyr, they often take to wandering and roaming, rarely missed by anyone as no one wants a Copper around - a blood thirsty and viscous copper who is convinced that she, too, is a queen. A thought rejected by most. Which, of course, would be in keeping with the truth as she is no queen. And it was with some annoyance from her copper that the pair looked to Moraiya and Zojiroth as their mentor.
They only really were around the Weyr for lessons and necessary duties. They grow strong together, but they struggle to get along, one always trying to control the other. But the are friends... if only tentatively.
Talithia is determined to prove herself to the Weyr while Maetioth is determined to be one of the rulers of the Weyr. Which causes only more strife and irritation between them.
Talithia and Meatioth disappeared after graduating from Werylinghood for about one month and returned a bit better for the wear they went through as a pair. In part it was for their own comfort and in part… for safety of the Weyr. But now, shortly after Archith’s maiden flight, the copper and her rider return.
Adoption?: No
Dragon's Name: Maetioth (may – tie - OTH)
Dragon’s Gender: Female
Dragon's Age: 2 Turns
Dragon's Color: Copper {b65626}
Dragon's Appearance:
Maetioth is a large copper dragoness at 35 feet with a considerable muscle tone and a gorgeously shining hide which she always demands to be well oiled. It fades a bit at her maw, the ends of her wings , the end of the tail, and on her feet. It is only barely perceptible. She is beautiful perfect in form for a dragon and pleasing to the eye to look at. Her wings are large and well muscled with sharp angles and a fine bone structure. She is, in her own mind, the most beautiful dragon of all Pern.
Dragon's Personality:
Controlling, irritable, sly, cunning and devious. These traits are what make up the very core of Maetioth. She is everything you expect from a copper, with a blood lust which is hard to satisfy, though one that her rider will often divert to more acceptable targets. She has a desire to hurt others and to lead them astray. She loves to be maniacal. Her temper could set a record; I’m sure, with just how short it is. Though it is often short and only lasts for so long. She gets a kick out of making people nervous and sending them into fits. It’s wonderful in her personal opinion. Though she does not physically terrorize most people, she loves to mess with their minds and terrorize them that way. It is a true joy to her.
Her determination knows no bounds and is only curbed by her rider… though there are certain things that even Talithia cannot control about her. SHe woudl try everything as not to chew fireston and that in and of itself is evidence of just how strong willed, stubborn, and powerful she feels she is as a copper.
Maetioth is a rather frightening dragoness to most for good reason. She and Talithia live in a very careful balance. Talithia is two strong willed for her and, though Maetioth had desired to break her when she had Impressed to her and subjugate her rider to her will, she has not, in two turns, succeeded. She adores her rider, though she hates that she cannot yet control her. But at the same time, there is something of a thrill for her in the constant arguing and fighting. It is so much more fun than people seem to think.
Maetioth believes herself to be a queen and she will not stop short of giving orders. She believes Archith to be far too full of herself and to not be the most fitting queen of the Weyr, but she is prevented from taking action…
Dragon's History:
The young copper had broken from a shell that was speckled with the slightest golden sheen in one spot, a fluke perhaps as the dragonet that came from it was definitely not royalty and definitely not desirable. The maw with its green and blue flare, the copper colored hide with its more faded areas, though most didn’t notice it right away. It was a copper terror. A true copper terror.
And she would prove herself as much a copper as any other as she tore into dragons and Candidates alike… including her own rider whom she bonded to. Talithia and Maetioth were undesirable. Pushed away and shunned other than what was necessary. Some were even in favor of trying to send the dragoness between, but of course, it was not done.
Life immediately became rough for the pair and it only further taught Maetioth to fight back, to be angry, and to manipulate and control to get her way. It was Talithia who came to control her. Any lesser rider never would have been able to.
And yet there were still things that people could not force her to do. She will still try to not chew stone. She is feisty, annoying, irritable and easily angered.
When they were old enough to fly together. Talithia and Maetioth took to spending all their free time as far from the Weyr as they could, and after graduation, they disappeared only to reappear after Archith’s maiden flight.
