Making a New Home {Open} {15.09.12, Mid-morning}

Chantrea nearly shuddered as she came out of the cold of Between on the back of a blue dragon with a somewhat less than pleasent rider who held her to his dragon. "Scared, hmmm?" She made a scoffing noise and looked back at him. "No. Afraid not." Her tone was serious, but almost teasing as well. She sat up straighter as the dragon spiraled downward, giving her a glimpse of what would be her new home. Now she had only to wait for the day of a hatching... But... then again... just living here would be better than living with her renegade family.

As the dragon backwinged and landed in the Bowl. She slid from his back and looked around. He watched her for a moment. "I trust you can find your way from here? It won't be difficult." She sighed. "You really aren't a good searchrider, you know." That was all she said to him as he turned to leave, making him turn back towards her with a blink. "And you certainly are an interesting Candidate." She gave a smirk and watched him continue on his way. Well... time to explore, she supposed.

She looked at her two blue flitters who appeared from Between themselves and landed on her shoulders, wrapping their tails around her neck. The darker of the two, Ziegfried, gave a little chirp and tilted his head. The lighter, Amp, who was also the larger an the younger crooned at about the same time and Chantrea smiled, laughing slightly. "Let's get going you two."

With that she took a step towards one of the walls. hmm... the signs were a nice touch. Very good and very much worth following to find ones way around. Though... no what was she supposed to do? She had no idea. She should have forced that rider to stay. N'rim was a fool. Little did she know that he was the incompetent searchrider who was lazy and didn't seem to care for those he searched so much.

She just kept watching those walking by and headed towards... what exactly. "Amp, Ziegfried... find someone who can help me out, please." The two chittered happily and did exactly as she said, leaving her standing in the Bowl, waiting. She hoped that her blues would be quick. Though she doubted they would keep their attention span in check. Though she wasn't sure.

She sighed and turned to look at those around her. might as well approach someone... And so she started to walk towards a nearby rider. (Can be any rider or non-rider even. ^^'; )

Even though it was still late summer, the air at High Reaches Weyr was already crisp, and the wind made Yara shiver as it whipped by her, tangling her short hair.

"Won't be long now before the first snow," Yara observed, grinning up at the gray clouds. "Too bad we can't stay, Poy. I know how much you love to roll in the snow, when it comes."

I do not roll in the snow, Citrine Poyianth grumbled. It is not appropriate.

"I know that, of course you don't! Instead, you just melted it all, to make sure that no one else rolled in it. How brave of you, Poy, to save us all from that awful threat that is fun," Yara said. She laughed as she strapped two boxes together, checking to make sure that they were firmly secured.

You did not see me do anything last winter, Poyianth said gravely. You were in your sickbed all of last winter.

"Warming some poor patient's sickbed up for them, perhaps," Yara said, but this time, her laugh felt forced. She fell silent as she loaded a bag onto the Citrine that was crouched next to her, and when she went to check the riding straps, she hugged Poyianth tightly around the neck for a long moment.

Poyianth was the one to decide when that moment should be over. Have you sufficiently packed? she asked. Yara released the dragon from her grasp and picked up her riding helmet instead.

Yes, Yara said mentally as she donned her helmet. And I've said goodbye to everyone I know, and to some people that I don't know. They gave me funny looks, but who cares? I never have to see them again now! She laughed, though the sound was muffled by her gear.

She zipped up her riding jacket, put on a pair of mittens and then a pair of gloves, wound a scarf around her neck, and then, finally, mounted Poyianth. All of the extra winter gear was absurd for what amounted to only a couple of minutes in the air, all told, but the healer hadn't wanted her to take any chances with her health.

On her rider's command, Poyianth leapt up into the air, relishing the feel of the cold air under her wings. She hovered above the Weyr bowl, lower than they normally would be to go between (healer's orders, again), before making the jump.

As a rule, Yara never counted the moments between--it made no difference whether she did or not at that point, they would either arrive safely or be stuck between forever--but she knew instinctively how long it took. As they popped out of the black, she opened her eyes to gaze down on her new home. Beautiful, she thought, and Poyianth agreed.

Poyianth backwinged lazily down, slowing her descent to give them more time to take in the valley. They landed on the floor of the Bowl before Yara dismounted, moving carefully so as not disrupt any of her bags. She took a long look around the Weyr. She had figured she would know where to go but, as it turned out, no two Weyrs were exactly the same. Who would have thought it? Yara thought wryly.

She was peering in the direction of what looked to be the kitchens when she saw a young woman approaching her, and realized that she must have been sent to help.

"Well, hi there!" Yara called to Chantrea with a broad smile. "I'm the new transfer! Are you here to help me? Why, aren't you sweet! Do you know where the Weyrwoman is, perhaps?"

((Ugh so long... I really hope you don't mind me introducing my own character on your introduction thread, either... If you do, just tell me, and I can edit this or delete it or something.))

She blinked. "I'm sorry... I don't know what you mean. I am a new Candidate who has just arrived and the searchrider just up and left me standing here in the Bowl. I would love to find the Weyrwoman myself and talk to her about this. I mean... waht is a Candidate supposed to do?!" She sighed in frustration and twirled her hair slightly with a small smile. "It's nice to meet you though, I am Chantrea. May I ask your name and the name of your dragon Citrine rider...?" she asked her kindly.

That was about the time her blue flitters came back and landed on her shoulders, twining their tails around her neck and crooned softly. They looked at the Citrine dragon and her rider curiously.

The first blue, the darker and smaller one gave a soft cheep at them and his larger lighter blue toned brother crooned softly, happy to meet this new person as well as her rider. He was also excited about their new home and the new found freedom that had to come with it.

His was a bit... worried. Why was she worried. Why was his brother also worried. It was ridiculous.

She looked around. "I don't think I can really help you right now... Not that I wouldn't if I could..." That was all that she said before looking around the Bowl again, running a hand through her head as she looked at each person instead. She wondered if perhaps the Weyrwoman herself would come to help them out. Well... yes. If she was standing here with a transfer rider.
