The sky was a beautiful forget-me-not blue, and the clouds were a beautiful pure white. A dragon and rider flew leasurely around the clouds. The color of the dragon was unable to be seen from such a distance.
"Let's find a place here," Yuki told the dragon below her.
Alright, replied the Aurora. Her wings shifted, and she began a slow, spiraling glide down to the Weyr. She landed within the Weyrbowl, the ground rumbling slightly. Oops. Yuki undid the straps that held her in place on Ayleneth's back, dismounting easily. She made sure to keep her daggar from getting caught on the straps as she got off her Bonded.
"So this is Rainbow Mists Weyr," Yuki said, looking around.
Indeed it is, Mine, replied the larger Aurora. But we must wait for one of the ones who lives here to introduce themselves.
"You're right," Yuki said as Ayleneth snaked her head around, resting it beside the woman. Yuki absently scratched at Ayleneth's eye ridge, waiting. She wore her usual attire of a skirt, unchanged in color from the animal hide it was made out of, and a shirt, bleached white by the sun. Her emerald green eyes scanned the area, searching for any signs of people who might be around. She hadn't seen tales of Auroras at Rainbow Mists in the scrolls and hides of the Ice Stone library, but they might have been hidden away somewhere else.
Suddenly, something grabbed Ayleneth's attention. Over there, said the dragon simply. Yuki turned quickly, seeing someone approaching.
"Who are you?" she asked the stranger. "I am called Yuki, and I come from Ice Stone Weyr in the North."
Evaine had been distracted by the beautiful colors of the Aurora; they were rarer here. She had never seen one before, and my, were they pretty. She wouldn't have even noticed the landing had Chatorth not suddenly stood up and adjusted where he was sitting so that he could watch the dragon descend.
She supposed she should thank him, but the rider - Yuki - needed to be talked to first.
"Oh. Me? I'm Evaine! I'm a Weyrling here. Rider of Black Chatorth. Um, welcome!" Evaine gave the Rider a large smile before turning her head towards her own dragon.
Be nice. You think she's prettier than me!
Chatorth grumbled, huffing slightly before standing and looking up at the Aurora. She was bigger than him, but one day he would be bigger than her. (Or so he hoped. Right now, being small was on the list of things he wasn't really enjoying at the moment. He had almost been squished by a Bronze earlier that day. Evaine had thought it was funny.)
I never said that. Now, be nice.
Chatorth let out another huff before nodding his head at the Aurora. The gesture seemed awfully human-like for a dragon, but it was something he and Evaine had been working on. Welcome to the Weyr. I am Chatorth.
Evaine turned her attention back to Yuki, running a hand through her hair. It ruffled past her fingers, short and black and messy. "How can I help you?"

Yuki looked over at the new arival. It was a Weyrling. At least it's a Rider, she said to the Aurora.
Indeed it is, Mine, replied the larger Aurora. But it would be better if there was a BronzeRider, or a Wingleader to show us around. Or even the Weyrleader.
That would be better, Yuki admitted. But we've gotta be careful what we say to them. There's no telling what could set them off. Especially that little Black. If I'm right, they're sometimes sensitive about their size.
Well, we should at least talk to them, Ayleneth said. Yuki sighed.
"Evaine," Yuki said aloud. "Nice to meet you. Do you know if any of the Wingleaders are available? Or possibly the Weyrleader or Senior Weyrwoman?" It wasn't like it wouldn't be an expected question. Transfer riders usually asked to meet with someone in a position of authority.
We would be greatful if you could assist us, Ayleneth added. She glansed at the Black dragon, her eyes glittering. Yuki found herself dreading something, but wasn't completely sure what for a moment. Then it hit her.
Please not now! she told Ayleneth. Can't it wait?
It will happen eventually,[/i] replied the Aurora. Might as well accept it.[/i]
Can't it at least wait until we're settled in? Yuki retorted.
Very well, Ayleneth said. I will restrain myself. But it will happen.

"A pleasure to meet you as well. One of the Wingleaders should be around. Not quite sure where, though. They never seem to be where you need them." Evaine scratched her head and turned around, looking at the Weyr.
Perhaps the Weyrwoman's offices would be the best place to go, Chatorth offered with a small rumble, twitching his head towards their location. Even if she is not around, one can usually find a Wingleader there.
"Oh. Good idea." She flashed her dragon a large smile before turning back to the new Rider. "Would you like me to walk you there?"
