Flitters and Rocks
Flaxen hair blue across her face, obscuring her brown eyes. Her face was angular, her skin very smooth. She was slender, sitting on a rock, bent over, her elbows on her knees. Today had not proven, thus far, to be a good day for hunting flitter eggs.
On her right shoulder sat her Bronze Min. On her left, her blush-colored Pink, Saga. Saga might as well have been a Queen in this group of nine flitters. She exhibited quite a bit of control over the others. Including Bronze Min, Brown Shin, and Purple Roni, despite them all being large than her. She wasn't the first that Netta had Impressed either. That honor went to Green Patty. The youngest of the nine was her little Green Foren, a gift given to her by the flitter trainer she had been traveling with up until a couple Turns ago.
The girl watched as her third Green, Riina, splashed in the water, Roni copying her as if it was a great game.
Shin was curled up in the sand, sunning himself. He loved this. He loved the sun and he loved the sand. Especially when it was warm. Blue Rush flew around, as though keeping an eye on everyone. Her White sat on her knees between her forearms, looking out at the sea, her eyes swirling. Norin was a curious little White, but she was shy. But, of all of her nine flitters, Norin was probably the sweetest. At least in Nettta's opinion. Norin had been born in Pink Saga's first clutch with a wild Bronze. She almost felt bad for Min, Shin, and Rush on that day. It seemed as though they had never had a chance at catching Saga. She was a picky and, of course, musical Pink.
Netta stood slowly, causing Norin to fly up into the air. However, the little White didn't so much as make a sound of annoyance. She simply rolled with the punches and moved to fly alongside her mistress. Saga gave a little chirrup which seemed to alert the others.
Riina, Foren, Roni, Rush, Min, Shin, Saga, Norin, and Patty... Netta did a head count. Of course, she never really worried about them getting lost or any such thing. That wasn't going to happen. She smiled. She scratched her Pink's eyeridges. They were all fine. She just liked to make sure that they were all safe.
Her strides were even and almost prideful. Her expression was blank and far away. Her eyes scowered the beach, the air, everything, looking for any sign of wild flitters or flitter eggs. Hopefully... She would have eggs to take to the next gather to sell... She felt like she wasn't doing her "job" right at this point. She had never failed to have a clutch or more before, but she hoped that she could find some with a Queen or royal amongst the eggs this time... She, personally, had yet to have an egg she had found hatch to be a Queen. Royals, yes, Saga had had a Bronze in her own clutch... but a Queen... Not at all. She bit her lip. She just had t hope.
