Appearance: Isodae stands at a sturdy 5’ 10” and a pinch more and rightfully carries herself as one who has been in charge most of her life. Her hair is straight, kept trim above her shoulders, and often put up. Its color a mix of medium and dark brown tones and the silver that shows her age is sneaking in strand at a time and is clearly noticeable. Her skin is an olive tan true to the south with mid dark brown eyes to match. She has wrinkle lines starting in around her eyes and in a few other places. Isodae prefers formal wear to casual and spends a good part of her morning putting her looks in order. She is overly fond of jewelry, owns too much of it, and wears even more. Necklace, hair ornaments, bracelets, and a few rings, and many that rotate on a regular basis.
Personality: Isodae’s Turns have brought her grace and poise, and a love of all things fancy. Rubbing elbows and hobnobbing with important people in a lovely gown of a dress is her idea of a good time. Though reserved about her personal life she made an excellent political leader and fostered good, but very few deep, relations with as many circles as possible. She keeps a close, inner circle of trusted friends and respects their input highly. The rest of the world is kept at a formal distance, though as long as they are willing to respect her Isodae will allow them to speak their piece.
While Isodae does not often go out of her way for others she does unrelentingly seek the best for the Weyr. She believes strongly in the importance of the good of many outweighing the good of a few, with small biased exceptions for herself and close friends. She has a hard time not putting her personal bias on everything and often takes things personally. Caution to those who ask for her opinion: Isodae will give you an earful. Altogether she is a person who knows what she thinks and does try to see the best end come about. She is a GoldRider who lives by goals and purpose and cannot function well without them.
History: Isodae was born to an unhappy woman and a surprised father. Solda worked as a seamstress and cleaning woman at the stone mining camp south of Waterfall Valley Weyr. She made the simple garments for the masons, cleaned them, mended them and did other odd cleaning jobs to make a living. She denies ever loving that rotten, no help IronRider but I’varn will tell you otherwise. To avoid social estrangement, Solda married a stocky mason named Therin and the rest of the camp was kind enough to turn a blind eye to the arrangements. Isodae took after her father more than anyone, and so felt very unwelcome in the house since Solda didn’t shower her with the affection she craved and Therin was always at work.
I’varn, however, loved the girl and came every sevenday to visit. They would often leave the unpleasant, dusty mining camp and spend their day at Waterfall Valley Weyr. Even when I’varn was busy that day he’d still bring Isodae to the Weyr so she could run around with other children her age, as there were not many children at the camp. When she was 10 she met her lifelong good friend, Hildriane “Hillie” Byvern, at Waterfall Valley and the two become inseparable. She became "Iso" to her friend and has allowed very few others to use the informal nickname.
Solda was convinced her daughter’s head was full of Weyr nonsense and impracticalities. Good folk worked hard for what they had. So Solda planned to send Isodae away to apprentice under whoever would take the ‘useless, daydreaming girl’. I’varn found out and he and Lyonth would not see their precious Isodae treated as any less than the lady she was. I’varn wrote a letter, left it for Solda, and then took Isodae to the Weyr without any confrontation. He received a very nasty letter several days later and promptly threw it away.
Free at last, Isodae and Hillie spent hour upon hour together winning the hearts of certain, helpful weyrfolk. The head cook was Hillie’s uncle and it was not uncommon to see the pair walking around with blueberry bubbly pie stains on their mouths and shirts. They were formally Searched together by Lyonth and stood at several Hatchings together but did not Impress. I’varn assured them that they were still young and their dragonet was just not among the last Hatching. It wasn’t until they were both in their later teens, Isodae newly 19 and Hillie still 18, that the fateful Hatching came. A deep Purple, perhaps a touch on the calm side for her color, found Hillie first. Isodae cheered but still ached to be chosen by a dragonet herself. Before the last dragonets were hatched and despair could set in, Isodae had a golden snout thrust into her face. The two bumped noses, shook their heads simultaneously, regained their composure to stare at the space intruder, and then broken down into happy smiles and jumping up and down as Isodae and Bylanath became a dragon and Rider pair.
Training was tough and took every bit of energy they had. Feeling in control of her life, and liking it, Isodae took every opportunity to attend political gatherings, learning the ins and outs of the world she loved navigating yet had never imagined finding herself in. It was through all of her connections and quickly built reputation that she was suggested as Rainbow Mists Weyr’s new Senior Weyrwoman. Three other Queens in addition to Isodae and Bylanath were looking to inherit the title. The days under the intense watch of both Weyr and Weyrleaders were tense. When the announcement was made that Isodae was to succeed Kaya it took her a full minute to react and the next several days for it to finally sink in.
Isodae took over as Rainbow Mists Weyr’s Senior Weyrwoman in 3039. She continued to develop Rainbow Mists’s fame, largely in its close alliance with Ice Stone Weyr, already unusual in itself, and supporting the newer practices of letting dragons other than Queens clutch and even encouraging family raising within the Weyr. She provided LifeWing Riders with necessities but did not get along well with one of the Aerieleaders who served a long term, stalling development or closeness between Weyr and Aerie. Though Isodae could act acceptably pleasant around the Weyrleaders from Benden it was obvious that they did not approve of each other’s way of living and running a Weyr. There was a lot of sweet-talk and empty words that passed between the two Weyrs. As much as Isodae wanted the whole of Pern to love her Weyr she was not about to be bullied into accepting old practices that left people of all kinds separated and dissatisfied. DragonRiders had their duties, but as her father had shown her, there was always time for the things that were most important.
After thirty three full and busy Turns of running the Weyr, Isodae stepped down in the hopes that a pretty new face could help ease the tension between Rainbow Mists and its rivals. Rilora was inexperienced, she knew, but perhaps the girl had the right balance of nice and spunk to get things done. If only a challenge would arise so the new GoldRider could get her feet wet and prove to the world that Rainbow Mists was strong and well lead as ever.

Dragon's Name: Bylanath
Dragon’s Gender: Female
Dragon's Age: 45 Turns old, born in 3033
Dragon's Color: Gold [eebc25]
Dragon's Appearance: Bylanath is a bright, autumn leaf yellow-gold and has one very small Threadscore on the back of her left leg where the calf meets the ankle. She hasn’t quite started to grey like her Rider, though it hurts her pride to know that it will start soon. She is 45 feet long.
Dragon's Personality: Bylanath is assertive and not afraid to say what she thinks to whomever needs to hear it. She can come off as demanding and forceful, but when her intentions are received well she is a directing and strong leader. She has been the confidence in Isodae’s step the entire way and supports her Rider completely, even when they haven’t always agreed. She is quick to point out problems but hates being corrected in front of others, even when wrong. Bylanath dislikes it even more if others interrupt when she’s speaking. She is a thinker and doesn’t mind a puzzle or a challenge until it starts hurting her Weyr. She has a sharp tongue but age has given her patience and mellowed her temper considerably.
Dragon's History: Bylanath was born at Waterfall Valley Weyr and transferred to Rainbow Mists in 3038. She has had a good number of Hatchings in her Turns and chose different mates quite often. While she was under Kayleth’s tutelage she quickly outgrew the young and impressionable stage in her life. Though this lead to differences between the Golds they still get along well enough and worked together well when the situation demanded it.
