Zigbrieth got a boost pride from the White’s actions toward the Midnight. He was getting tired though, his wings were crying out for a little bit of rest. But no, he would press on. Viarth was properly reprimanded for his lateness, and Zigbrieth was content with that. As for himself, well, when the White’s wings tips touched his own, he felt like he was vindicated and pushed forward after the bright Dragoness. She was small and quick, and even if he wasn’t the largest of dragons he still couldn’t accelerate as fast as she did. Oh, but he would keep up after her, with such encouragement he couldn’t possibly stop now. Even if his wings wished it otherwise.
Now. The moment, the time to win, the-- Newcomer?! Ferth's eyes shifted from orange to red. Back in the White rider's weyr, Syra's face went pale and her lips pursed together. This changes the hand-- and someone coming in during the final rounds screws up the entire game.
Double the effort, now.
Of course.
Ferth threw himself towards the path, using his conserved energy to give him a boost to the end of the Flight. Closer now, following her more carefully, he used his energy now, burning it with each wingbeat. Had he flown like this earlier, he would have dropped out of the sky long before now.
Syra can only hope that several rounds of bluffing will pay off.

Angeth's choice was decided. She brushed off the Midnight, completely ignored Viarth, and flew up next to the Blue. She brushed her wing against his. Yes. This was her choice. She flew ahead of him, then turned around and opened her wings to him. Yes. She chose him.
The Blue kept pumping his wings. Each moment was agony. However, his eyes were still riveted on the dragoness before him. Of course every other dragon chasing her must be. They could all taste the finish line approaching. So when Angeth brushed her wing against his as she flew forward he felt it was also close. A moment later, she turned back and spoke to him. Only to him. He crooned and reached forward to support Angeth, taking great care not to be rough at all. The glowing White was small, but it gave him great joy to think that the lithe creature would be safe with his protection for the time being.
Angeth… She was lighter then he thought, but that was okay, he could carry her safely. She could rest now, he’d take care of it. That was the plan and he was sticking to it.
In Syracuse's eyes, a storm grew, churning as loss filled her mind. Her jaws clenched. I flew my hardest. Zigbrieth flew better, the Midnight acknowledged, able to reason with his loss.
But Syra left with her stormclouds around her, lust and loss sitting poorly with her.
She needed a drink, and preferably some nice cavern girl to soothe the anger of her wounded pride.
Ferth crooned a note to the blue, acknowledging the Blue as his better. With a few wingbeats, the Midnight flashed between, satisfied with his attempt, and knowing his rider would soon get over the results.
