76.2.19, morning, a few hours after dawn
The little White took up a tiny portion of the Sands. She looked almost too small for it, being that the place was made for Queens that were multiple times her size. Two eggs, one much smaller than the other, sat half-buried in the sand between her claws. Kokoro was sitting on Angeth's back reading as the White was curled around her eggs.
Then something moved, causing Angeth to sit up. Kokoro quickly grabbed a neck spike, startled.
"What is it Angeth?" Kokoro asked.
I saw one of the eggs move! the first-time mother said excitedly. I think they're Hatching!
Kokoro slipped onto the sand. "Well then, call them!" she said with a laugh. "But maybe you should wait and see if they move again first. I've heard that sometimes eggs will move a little before they're ready to Hatch. It's a lot like a pregnant mother. Most of the time, the baby will kick long before it's ready to be born. Maybe they're just trying to get more comfortable."
The larger egg moved again, just a little. Angeth looked over at Kokoro excitedly. The girl laughed softly and shook her head. "Wait a bit longer," she insisted. The smaller egg shook, and then, as if a signal, the larger egg shifted, shaking consistantly this time.
Now?!
"Now."
Angeth roared loudly, broadcasting her thoughts as well. My eggs are Hatching![/b] Kokoro laughed softly, stepping to Angeth's side, but staying back so she wouldn't get caught in whatever mess the Hatchlings would make. She put a hand on Angeth's hide, smiling slightly. They almost felt like her babies, simply because they were Angeth's eggs. But that was the strength of the bond they shared.
