Name:K'ton Dibriell (Formerly Kyton [kite-on])
Pronunciation: Kuh-ton Die-bree-el
Gender: Male
Age: 18 turns
Turnday: 59.03.16
Weyr: RMW
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Family: Kyger Dibriell(father, 56, fisherman), Emilton Dibriell (mother,44), five older siblings (three brothers and two sisters) and one younger sister, all of whom help with fishing on their father's boat in some way.
Friends: K'tar of Purple Viarth
Pets: None
Appearance: With auburn hair always carefully stylized and hazel green eyes with a mischievous glint usually present, K'ton takes a great deal of pride in his looks-even if his features are more delicate than he would prefer. He generally wears form fitting clothes that accentuate his lean build, and add to his 5'11" height. K'ton has fair skin that-much to his dismay-is prone to freckling rather than tanning.
Personality: K'ton is very careful about which side of himself he lets the people around him see, and most people only ever see his public face. To the public he is always self-assured with a carefree, slightly cocky, grin seldom leaving his features. He flaunts as if he alone is the owner of where he is, brushing off any disapproving comments with a Cheshire grin as if he believes himself to be about those making the remarks. He seems to say whatever odd or shocking thing that comes to his mind, apparently relishing in shocking other people. He teases those around him whenever the opportunity presents itself, and while he means it to be good natured he sometimes crosses boundaries without realizing what he did wrong. K'ton also has a habit of giving his completely honest opinion when asked for it, sparing no time to veil the harshness with flowery words that might soften the blow.
While K'ton gives off an air that he doesn't care about anything, he actually cares quite a bit, which is part of the private personality that virtually no one gets to witness. K'ton is unsure of most of the things he does, but feels as if displaying that fact would lend to others perceiving him as weak. He can't stand the silence that occurs when a lull in conversation appears, filling it with nonsensical chatter of the first thing that pops into his head. If K'ton doesn't simply do what his first instinct tells him to do, then he tends to over think any task he has been given. He often feels as if he is not good enough to be in his position, as if he is taking the position away from someone who might be able to do a better job than he is able to do.
K'ton appreciates the simple things in life, and is known to often get up early to watch the sunrise. He dislikes those who don't say what they mean, or those who purposefully demean and belittle others. He enjoys beautiful things, often opting to put in the extra effort to afford any small luxury he can-be it softer cloth or a better looking blade.
History: Born as the second youngest child and the fourth son into a fishing family in Cliffside Sea Hold, K'ton learned from a young age that if you wanted attention you had to have something exceptional about you. Seeing as he was stuck at home with his mother, while his older siblings went off on the boat with his father, he chose to throw all his energy into learning how to make fishing flies. His mother,Emilton, praised him on the beauty he managed to finally capture after all the hard work he had put into learning, however when it was showed to his father,Kyger, he was criticized for the same beauty. Kyger blatantly told K'ton that his sisters were more masculine than him, and that the beauty of the fly inhibited how quickly the flies could be made, thus limiting their effectiveness. K'ton continued to make the flies for his mother to barter, but from then on only presented his father with flies of average quality and no beauty. This was the start of K'ton filtering his personality depending on who he was with.
The first time K'ton went on the family boat when he was nine there was a storm and K'ton fell overboard, further cementing Kyger's belief of K'ton's uselessness. K'ton doesn't remember much of what happened, he only remembers the feeling of drowning and then being saved by a dragonrider. That's when his fascination with dragons began, and he did everything he could to learn more about them, hoping that one day he would be searched.
As K'ton grew older and his featured matured, the opposite sex began to show interest in him, an interest that he didn't necessarily reciprocate. At his father's and brothers' insistence he went out a few times, but only found the girls to be boring and flighty. It wasn't until a trading caravan came to the hold-bringing with it the trader's son who had been K'ton's childhood friend-that K'ton realized that he felt nothing towards the girls because he wasn't attracted to women. When he confided this to his mother she simply patted him on the head, instructor him not to tell his father. To this day she is still the only one to know of his preference.
When K'ton heard the news of dragonriders coming to Cliffside on Search, he feigned sickness to prevent his father from taking him out fishing, as his father had usually done every precious time there had been a Search. He then collected the fishing flies and other various objects his mother had wanted to barter that day and headed out, hoping to remain in a visible location throughout the day. He didn't need to wait long, as a pair of riders were chatting in the background as he bartered for the flies, approaching once he had finished bartering and offering him a place in the Weyr. K'ton returned home to deliver the goods he had procured and kiss his mother goodbye, excitement coursing through his veins as he realized that he would be able to escape the boring life of a fisherman, and had a chance to achieve his childhood dream of being a dragonrider.
Then K'ton impressed Bryath. He was shocked as she killed the Jungle right in front of him, although the thought was quickly moved out of his mind as her voice chimed in his mind. He adores the Purple, often going along with whatever she wishes and spoiling her rotten. He often oils her to make her shine, and to try and make up for the fact that on her first day of life she was covered with sand, causing her to look like a hideous wood.
Adoption?: No
Dragon
Name: Bryath
Pronunciation: br-i-ah-th
Color: Purple (f) (800080)
Size: 29 feet
Age: About Six Months (Born 75.13.15)
Appearance: Bryath is a royal purple, the color not wavering anywhere on her constantly well oiled hide. Her eyes are almost constantly whirling with a cheerful green. While she will grow to be twenty-nine feet she is currently only about 15.95 feet.
Personality: Bryath is a Purple: a true royal purple, to suit her almost queenly personality. After all, she may not be a Queen - and oh, how she knows her place among the ranks! - but she is self-assured and confident, if a little too bouncy for royalty. (Perhaps princess is a better descriptor.) With a personality full of mirth and teasing, and nearly boundless energy, Bryath could make a friend of nearly anyone - no matter how shy her Mine is.
History: Bryath was the last of Saphireth and Hocteth's clutch of three to hatch. She knew exactly who she wanted though, and headed immediately for Kyton, however her brown brother-Ornoth-had the audacity to knock her over and cause her beautiful hide to become covered in sand. How was she meant to impress her mine with her beautiful royal purple hide if it was covered with sand to make her look like a wood? She was not happy about that. Not happy about that at all. She did her best to shake the sand off, before returning to her course. Her Jungle brother, however, had the same idea. A small half-play half-fight tussle had then occurred as her brother bared his teeth at her. Then her claws caught the wrong way on his throat, and he disappeared between. She stopped to stare, before settling her bloodyclaws on Kyton's boots, peering up at him. Do you think he will come back? It does not matter. We are together! He should not have parted us, don't you agree, Mine!? Mine, I am hungry! She then set about making sure that he knew exactly how to take care of her, and they've been the perfect pair ever since, even if sometimes their interests conflict.
