S'vitr lifted a hand to rub at his face, only to remember - just in time - that his hands were still sticky with blood. He rubbed his fingers together with a grimace and briefly seemed to consider rubbing them on his already stained robe, but thought better of it. Instead, he continued to keep his vigil over a half-slumbering Zephoth, the young Ice only peripherally aware of what was going on. He wanted to stay awake - he truly did! - but between the warmth and a full belly and the satisfaction of having his right there, it was a difficult feat indeed.
For his part, the weyrling rider was still doing his best to keep track of what was happening. He might not have placed any bets - to do so would have been bad luck, he reasoned - but he still wanted to see what remained in the few eggs left to hatch. The late arrival was noted with a slightly quirked brow, but perhaps the lad was picked up at the last possible minute.
Was one of the self-Impressed meant for that one? He hoped not.
He did catch G'shon's gaze, however, and the other man's words drew a slow smile to the former gambler's lips. "So we did," he replied with a chuckle. "And in far better shape than I suspect either of us would have anticipated, eh?"
Shakti continued to watch all the while, her skin prickling a bit at the combination of heat and something else. Anxiety? Definitely anxiety. For the longer the Queen continued in her search, the longer the others went without their match. She didn't know if that would lead to more Impressing themselves or not; in the end, it probably didn't matter as much. If theirs was there, they would find them. If not- the ice was still there and waiting.
The thought was still a painful one.
She regained her bearings and forced herself to focus again, only to feel something new surging through her. Her gaze met the Silver-Copper Queen's and her breath caught in her chest.
Words. The words. She mentally scrambled to collect all of them, to memorize them, even as she realized that the link between her and Steruth was opening and widening to fill her with a sensation of love and completeness that she had never know. Would have never known if it wasn't for the tiny Queen before her.
"Yes. Yes, Steruth, I will help you remember. I will always help you remember, I promise." Her eyes burned with tears and she fought to keep them from spilling over her cheeks.
[smear:#b6babb]Thank you.[/smear:#ff9638:0] Steruth looked back at Temperanth and Shakti looked as well, only to duck her head in a bow of respect. It would have been more, but hunger was already gnawing into her stomach and the young woman ushered her lifemate off to where the others were feeding.
Steruth moved gracefully, mindful of her wings and tail. As soon as they were where they were supposed to be, she sat primly, while Shakti went to work in getting chunks of meat. She briefly looked to all of those who had Impressed - self, or otherwise - and smiled, but couldn't yet muster the words to congratulate everyone. Not yet, anyway.
Ulyana paused in feeding Yomith - and, after a fashion, it seemed that the pause was a necessary cessation. The Dream's belly was gently bulging and one set of eyelids was already closed, in anticipation of sleep. Yet, still, he struggled with wakefulness and drew as much as he could on Ulyana's reserves.
[smear:#848994]My sisters have also chosen well,[/smear:#1d2f55:0] Yomith mused. [smear:#848994]And that one- that one has arrived just in time. Do you think he knows?[/smear:#1d2f55:0]
"They did," Ulyana replied, watching the Silver-Copper choose, followed by the Cloud. More eggs hatched, but there were precious few left on the Sands by then. The latest human arrival was observed with a tilt of her head. "He must," she responded to the Dream's latter comments.
[smear:#848994]It is obvious,[/smear:#1d2f55:0] Yomith agreed sleepily.
"Yes," Ulyana replied and looked for something to clean and oil the increasingly more groggy dragonet.
