Ok, I basically thought I'd go ahead and lay out what I think is going to be a go, then edit as needed. *All feedback welcome* (as for the Stormy Plains Hold plot I posted)
Plot Beginnings: Someone has been leading sabatoge acts against the supplies brought in to ISW; supplies origenating in the South have been targeted in particular. Also, members of the Weyr who venture out alone are vanishing without trace. At this same time, rumors have started circling through Icy Caverns Hold that the Weyr is unneeded, and also that the Leaders of ISW have plans of conquest. Anyone who is especially vocal in decrying these rumors finds stories circulating about how they are liers, or violent criminals, or... well, you get the picture.
Plot Outline: The sabatoge and slander continue until either the perpetrators are caught or the Leaders of ISW give in to a set of demands. (demands to be determined) -- see next post for sample demand.
Needed Characters: These can be either full fledged characters or NPC's that you are willing to portray for the duration of the plot.
1. Leaders of Ice Stone Weyr (two slots) 2. Main perpetrator (planner) of the sabatoge (one slot) 3. Members of sabatoge group (three+ slots) 4. Dragonriders of ISW (as many slots as desired, the more the better) 5. Candidates and Weyrlings of ISW (same as #4) 6. Harper at Icy Caverns Hold (1-2 slots)
I like overall idea of this. Though I'd want to pin this on a specific group/people/motive if possible. It doesn't need to be public right away, just wondering.
Also, having ALL members outside the Weyr is a little too much. Some are pretty good fighters, or would be hard to catch off guard if others had already gone missing. So I'd say unprepared, unlucky and young/inexperienced people might be going missing.
Then, why would rumors of Ice Stone conquest start or be taken seriously? After the War the idea of a Weyr being headstrong like that wouldn't be taken well by ...anyone. Which is a good reason a rumor with a ring of truth could bring out people to be angry with them -- but they'd need some sort of evidence, real or not, to make the people believe their hard to swallow accusations. Like if they bought out the Harpers to lie for them, maybe.
Also, about ISW leaders, (Dance question) are they still under Ice Leadership or do they vary? Old ISW pre-Riders had a mated pair of leaders that were both Ices. Then under them the dragons with Riders sort of set up a coexisting Weyrleadership to communicate and function with other Weyrs. What kind of leaders/leadership might they have now?
And then would the capture/demands outcome be determined by players? In what way?

I was thinking that if they wanted to, the players of the villains could work out their own demands (either in a thread or by pming each other) or they could use a pre-crafted demand of mine (all Silverlights and Auroras must be destroyed... I was thinking that perhaps the organizers lost relatives to between and the accident involved those colors).

that sounds a lot more realistic.

I like the Harpers being bought out... maybe that's why Gillian (see Tamaruk's bio) got sent away. Maybe he refused the bribe, or threat, and the villains arranged for him to have to leave. Another thing that might work would be luring away members of the Hold and killing them (young/foolish members, mostly). The bodies could then be (especially if all killed at same time) used to provide "evidence" of the Weyr's aggression. (They could also remove parts of the bodies so that it looks like something large ate parts of them...)

I could see being against Silverlights because they are basically northern Queens but can Impress males. So I could see some group of radical traditionalists being against them. However Auroras not so much.
I like the Harpers being bought out...
Me too because Harpers are usually really good sources of information and judgement. It'd be enough to make people suspicious.
Wow. Sneaky. Attacking their own people and blaming it on others. Sounds pretty standard for feudal times, actually. Good thinking.
So these people with their "unnatural Queens" are a bunch of "liars" who never did anything about the "north's problems" and maybe were even in league with the DeathWings of old -- since they've since been defeated, some might say "Why didn't they take care of it before?"

I'd gladly help out and make a weyrling or rider. Unless you plan on a hatching, which I'll make a candi then to help out with that xD.
No ISW hatchings are planned yet (to my knowledge anyway), so weyrling or rider would probably be a better bet.

Yes. I didn't see that before, but there would almost certainly be an attitude of "If the DeathWings were "so quickly defeated" then why didn't you do it when they were "only bugging us"? And then the leaders of the sabotage step forward and say: "Heed our call! ISW was in league with the DeathWings!" -- or something like that.
Well then have an Aurora or somethin' and help the ISW side rather than the other. I don't think even if the villains got away with their plans that the Weyr leadership would just let their members be slaughtered. Ah, conflict. =3
We are wanting more ISW characters though, and Auroras are not a limited color in the least so feel free

Here's the re-written re-statement (with extra info on ISW).
Info on ISW: This information is courtesy of Dance. Ice Stone Weyr has a Weyrwoman who rides an Ice dragoness. The Weyrleader is determined as usual, with riders of Ice dragons being a possibility in addition to other KingRiders.
Plot Beginnings: Someone has been leading sabatoge acts against the supplies brought in to ISW; supplies origenating in the South have been targeted in particular. Also, unprepared and inexperienced members of the Weyr who venture out alone are vanishing without trace. At this same time, rumors have started circling through Icy Caverns Hold and the smaller holds of the area that the Weyr is unneeded, and also that the Weyrleaders of ISW (and their "uncommonly influential dragons") have plans of conquest. These rumors grow in response to the bodies of young Holdfolk being found, sometimes mangled and torn as though something large (read "dragons) ate some of them. The Harpers at Icy Caverns and the holds around it actively spread this tale, and anyone who is especially vocal in decrying these rumors finds stories circulating about how they are liers, or violent criminals, or... well, you get the picture. ((In actuality, the bodies are being left there by the same group of people that is running the sabotage of the Weyr's supplies))
Plot Outline: The perpetrators of the sabotage and slander issue a set of demands to the Weyrleaders of ISW, namely, that all of the "unnatural Queens called Silverlights" be killed. If this demand is not heeded (and probably even if it is) the leaders of the perpetrators take up a cry that ISW was in league with the DeathWings, and offer as evidence the quick defeat of the DeathWings at RMW's hands. (The saboteurs believe that the unnatural Queens that can Impress men are a sign of the decay of the Weyr, and have taken it upon themselves to cut out the decay and return the Weyr to "proper tradition".)
Plot Ending: -- Secret, and subject to change based on the actions of individual characters.
Needed Characters: These can be either full fledged characters or NPC's that you are willing to portray for the duration of the plot.

*If you want to play one of the above roles but do not want to make the character, PM me (Ghost) and I'll create an NPC for you to use in that spot.
Y'know, if they were young enough (read: dragon is small), and they were knocked out and then locked in a place where they had no hope of figuring out where they were, that could work.
There are several cases of dragons not even being sure where their -Riders- were when they were sick, missing, or unconscious. Dragons don't have telepathic GPS units. Just telepathic cell phones.

And yes, we've talked about ISWers being harsher.
I second the capture of small dragons proposal. And the harshness of the ISWers is going to be part of the fun.

I would almost feel alright bringing back my SilverlightRider, S'lieze, the very first SilverlightRider, who was also, interestingly enough, a Male.
Xerecalth(Daughter of Ice Sheyleth and Crimson Jeraloth) would only be about 40 or so now, and he'd be about 58-60 Turns old. So she's still more than a viable "threat" to the Traditionalists, since she can still Clutch for at least 5-10 Turns more. That is, if I'm doing my math correctly, since Terayne, my oldest rider, is roughly 80-ish now.
That is, if it was alright with Kaya and everyone else. If not(she is technically a Queen after all, if an aged one) that's fine, and I can make a rider of a different, younger dragon.
I'd throw in a weyrling and candidate! I was going to make an Aurora, but I kind of want to play on the bad side with this one, or maybe a double agent kind of character. Kaya, if you think Keira and Aezyth that I'm making now would work better for this, just pm me. I'd definitely make a candidate. *grabs binder full of characters*
