Name: K'tar Damoyen (Pre-Impression: Kalitar Damoyen)
Pronunciation: Kuh-tar Dah-moe-yen (Ka-lih-tar)
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Turnday: 3058.05.14, the 50th Turn of the 11th Pass.
Weyr: Rainbow Mists
Rank: DragonRider
Family:
Father: Razoren (deceased @ 40 Turns)
Mother: Leytha (42 Turns)
Older brother (23 Turns) named Gaveron (Gah-ver-en).
Friends:
Pets: Canine Altahyr (Al-tah-ear) (4). -- (earth reference: looks like a Rhodesian Ridgeback, except with border collie coloration and markings)
Appearance: K'tar is built like his father, lean and lanky-looking, though he is only about 5’10”, while his father is two or three inches above six feet. He has light tan skin, dark red-brown hair, high cheek-bones, and grey-blue eyes, though if he stands in exactly the right lighting the blue tint is not apparent. He habitually wears dark-brown or black clothing, though he can be convinced to wear a kind of iron-grey shade that he thinks makes his eyes stand out. He never lets anyone see his back, because of the series of scars on his shoulders from when his brother’s flitt was learning to use its claws.
Personality: K'tar could best be described by the word “troublemaker”, he has a lot of energy, and if he doesn’t have a legitimate way to burn it he will find other ways to do so; this, combined with a certain amount of innate creativity, leads him in the direction of trouble more often than not. He is impulsive, has a certain disregard for rules, and although he respects those in authority he will frequently try to pull things over on them when he gets bored, or when doing so makes things more convenient or easier for him. That's not to say that he is self-serving, because he'd also be one of the first to volunteer to help with a friend's chores or duties and would place himself between a friend and danger without hesitation, but he tends to believe that he is above chores unless he happens to enjoy them. The fastest way to get K'tar to do something is to tell him that it's not allowed, the second fastest is to tell him that he can't.
He has a tendency to take command of people if there is no one around that seems to be doing so, but he’s actually a little uncomfortable with doing so if there is someone there who technically out-ranks him. He is quick tempered, doesn’t like to back down from arguments, and keeps any fear less than total panic almost completely concealed. He doesn’t think of himself as arrogant, but he just doesn’t understand how to interact with people “below his station” and despite good intentions he sometimes manages to say things that end up just making people feel bad. He is wary of felines and of flitts, owing to a few too many claw marks obtained from them (see History).
History: K'tar’s father is one of the advisers of the Lord Holder of Stormy Plains. As such, he didn’t spend much time around his sons, and remained unaware of the vast majority of what Gaveron and K'tar did. His mother was more interested in impressing her other well-to-do friends with how incredibly well-to-do she was, and so was likewise unaware of what happened in the house once she left. Starting when K'tar was about two, Gaveron (then 5) blamed anything that went wrong on K'tar, so within a Turn, K'tar had came the decision that since he was going to get in trouble anyway, he might as well get the benefit of having done what he was accused of. This trouble was mostly the snitching of cookies off of counters, letting a few herdbeasts out of their stalls, giving a runner a fake limp, locking the “adult supervision” in a storage shed, and taking unpermitted trips to various locals.
When K'tar was seven Turns, his parents gave Gaveron money to buy two firelizard eggs. Naturally, Gaveron only bought one, an expensive one, for himself. He told their parents that the trader only had the one egg left. To K'tar’s lasting annoyance, the egg was left with Gaveron, but he didn’t say anything, as that would result in getting pounded at every possible opportunity in perpetuity. The firelizard that the egg hatched out was easily the ugliest flitt that K'tar had ever seen. Unfortunately, it was also the meanest. It was grey, but with reddish orange spots, so that it resembled nothing so much as a rusted piece of metal, and Gaveron taught it to attack, using K'tar as the training target. Gaveron called it "Hunter"; K'tar called it "Rusty-Trash".
About a Turn later, he met the Lord Holder’s son, Jatheiron, when Jatheiron was about seven. They promptly became friends, a friendship that they sealed by snitching half a plate of bubbly pies from the kitchen. There weren’t very many boys their age at Stormy Plains who they came into regular contact with, but after a couple Turns their group of friends had expanded to a total five boys with the inclusion of the three other boys. One, Talerian, was from another family like K'tar’s, and the other two (Farnaj and Keralt) were a couple boys about a year older than K'tar that Jatheiron and K'tar had gotten into an argument/fight with after both groups tried to “borrow” the same very nice runnerbeasts. Keralt later taught K'tar how to pick pockets, a skill he used mostly to obtain money from Gaveron.
After about a month and a half at RMW, K'tar Stood for Gold Archith's first Hatching, Impressing "the most curious dragonet ever" -- to quote him -- Purple Viarth. The pair went through Weyrling training like a whirlwind, popular opinion is that K'tar left no means of getting in trouble untried.
Other Information: K'tar knows how to throw knives, and can also use grappling hooks (skills that he picked up from Farnaj and Keralt). He is also able to get around by walking along roofs, provided they are about ten feet or less apart.
Adoption?: Warn me first if the time limit falls during the school year.
Dragon's Name: Viarth (Vee-arth) -- the last syllable is said like the beginning of the name "arthur".
Dragon’s Gender: Male
Dragon's Age: 5 Turns (born: 73.08.23)
Dragon's Color: Royal purple (#3f0063)
Dragon's Appearance: Viarth is a deep, royal purple. He has reached his full growth of 31 feet from point of shoulder to base of tail. He has filled out a little, but remains lean.
Dragon's Personality: Viarth is a tease and revels in the spotlight. He has a creative streak in him, wondering what kind of wild things could be put together to make everyday tasks easier - part of it comes from curiosity, the other half laziness. He is exceptionally bad at anything the first time he tries it, but learns quickly and must try things with his own claws and wings before he gets the hang of it. Nothing bothers this lighthearted dragon, it all slides right off his back.
Dragon's History: Viarth was the fourth dragonet to hatch out of Gold Archith’s first clutch. He was sired by Bronze Promeuth. He has always been curious, and acquired a reputation for trouble as a weyrling, mostly because he didn't know what he shouldn't stick his nose into. As a fully grown dragon, Viarth is frequently an accomplice to his rider's schemes. Negative attention still grants spotlight, after all.
